Just heard from ND that the owner is pulling the plug on trivia... what an idiot! The bar has been ringed with trivia players every time I've been there and the count of non-trivia players in the place can be counted on one hand.

That's one of the dumbest decisions ever. That place definitely raked in $ many times more than the cost of buzztime. Hope his profit margin takes a big hit now!

my condolences to you, but it is the story of my Buzztime life, the sites dump the game shortly after i show up there! (they seem to all be getting the 3 month free trial and not making the big bucks they thought it would attract)

oh well such is life, my first site the whistlestop pub in courtenay had it since the 1990's i have a key chain for the first decade of play there in 2002

it dropped the games around 2008/2009 :roll:

Sorry to hear they are dropping BT Trivia. I stopped in there on my way to WVBTO I. Without Trivia it is just another nice neighborhood bar. I won't be dropping in again.

It always baffles me when bars that get tons of trivia traffic drop Buzztime while hundreds if not thousands of bars that barely get any players continue to pay for it. Cadillac Jack's used to advertise that they were the number #1 buzttine bar right on the menu.

LOL, just saw STU at Elsa's yesterday.

I guess this one is still in the rumor department. The owner has said he is getting rid of it, but I guess he has a reputation of changing his mind... we'll see what happens in the next month or so.

Looks very much like this is going to happen, the NTN rep confirmed that Cadillac Jacks decided to end trivia.

That said, it is pathetic the trouble we have had with trivia boards the past year. Not sure if that was even a factor, but the manager was constantly returning boards and getting crappy ones back. Just last night, I had 7 boards die on me that said 99% when I picked them up..Haven't seen an NTN rep there in well over two years, whereas it used to be almost quarterly..

Since I can't make it out this Saturday, I guess my Playback days are over there as well, that's what I'll miss the most. We'll probably have a couple of last hurrahs, maybe on Thursday or Monday but I sincerely believe that's all she wrote....

As to the state of BT boxes, you are right, at Hardtimes we are sending back 2 to 4 boxes per month. When different repaired ones come back they last about 6 months at most. They used to last 2 years or so.

We are on top of our boxes other places aren't, you go to these places and 8 of 10 boxes are crap and we leave. That makes the managers consider dropping BT. This is turning into a huge downward spiral. Of course BT will say use your phones. F that.

I think an IPad is much larger than an android or am I wrong. I do not have one. I thought Ipads were the size of Kindles while androids were the size of cell phones.

I'm surprised (although I know I shouldn't be) about the # of people who use the numerical keypad to play. It seems like everyone in my bar uses the numerical keypad. I guess the numbers are bigger, thus easier to see. I've always used the number row on the regular keypad.

One (possible) potential flaw. There was a woman who came into our bar with an ipad a few weeks ago. She's a P+ whore (thank god I said P+ :lol:

). I remember someone started a rumor that you get 100 P+ points for answering those buzztime shorts questions. I have no idea if that's true or not, but word has gotten around.

Anyway we were playing a 15-minute game (with the 4 answer choices). A buzztime short came on, the answer was 5. For whatever reason, her ipad only gave her 4 answer choices on that question (since it had been giving her 4 choices the whole game). So she couldn't hit 5 for the answer on that one, thus possibly missing out on those precious P+ points (if the rumor is true :roll:

).

At that point, she immediately switched over to a regular playmaker.

If I am playing one box, my left hand is on 1-2-3 on the number row, and my right hand is on 4-5 on the keypad. When playing two boxes, both hands use the keypad exclusively.

If the boxes changed to an iPad-like device where there were no buttons, it would be a major adjustment, and I don't think it would otherwise improve BT's games.
