a few words about my home site.
Located in north-east part of Toronto. far from the tourist an business areas. area is primarily residential. pub is located in a small plaza with a Popeyes Chicken, variety store, take out pizza joint and a beauty supply place. There is a university campus nearby but very few college-aged patrons. neighbourhood used to be considered a little sketchy but there have been no problems later.
recently purchased by new owners. I was afraid they were going to junk their BT installation..the first day they owned the place they fired the karaoke host..so far they seem interested in keeping BT in place
standard pub fare..chicken wings are quite a bit better than average. good selection of draft - they have about 18 on tap with a mix of domestic, yankee and imports. no microbrews. generally friendly atmosphere. The older patrons are mostly WASP but the younger crowd matches the local demographics which is much more varied.
10 boards. 1 don't hold its charge and they do seem to want to do anything to send it to get fixed. otherwise the boards are in good repair. always have at least 1 TV in bar area showing BT. Will turn on TV's in other sections of bar upon request - the bar has three distict rooms with pool tables and darts in 1 of the back rooms. Many TVs
good number of players in the post-work time period Monday to Friday. There is a core group of about 10 players but they are rarely all there at one time. There will be 4-8 players most days. Countdown is preferred game but they have no aversion to Buzztime Trivia..the bar was a new install after the introduction of that game and most of the players didnt play previously.
Little team play but sharing is expected..especially if you have built up a big lead and are certain of the answer.
a couple of stragglers who live nearby will last until 8:00 pm or sometimes 8:30 but premium game play for the hour long games is completely non-existant. If you want to play Showdown with other players, The Three Monkeys is a 15 minute drive.
when the system was first installed poker was popular but the novelty wore off within 4 months.
