As of today, it disappeared from the list of Houston locations. After some goading by me via a carefully worded but truthful FB post, the following appeared on SRO's FB page:

"Until SRO renews a contract with NTN, it won't be available right now. If interested in alternatives, Brooke Smith said to contact her here on Facebook.
SRO Webmaster"

That's too bad Brooke, we've seen SRO OT for more years than I can remember.

Next they will close the doors or be sold. Seen it several times where the 1st thing to go unpaid when there is $ trouble is the BT bill.

I doubt there was anything that you could have done to save them.

Good luck with the hunt for a good replacement.

Thanks, Joel--we've lost other locations such as TBones/KC's, and Click's, but this is the one that makes me sick to my stomach when I think about it. The others at least were honest with us, and although I think TBone's should have given us more warning and a chance to show them why they were making money off the system, they weren't lying to us or refusing our offers of is kicking me in the teeth, even though we're happy to rejoin our friends on Tuesday at Concert Pub (weather permitting), and enjoy our new Wednesday home at Coaches Pub. But I've pretty much given up on Fridays and Saturdays because I no longer have an easy place to get to when Jim/COOGS is working.

And today SRO closed its doors, thus completing the pattern of "have no funds to pay NTN/Buzztime bill--lose system--go away permanently." I'd predicted in December that they'd close after the funds ran out from the Super Bowl unless they could make it to March Madness, but obviously they didn't.

COOGS had continued to go there for lunch, but I'd boycotted the place since I'd learned the truth about trivia. Ironically I was going to make an exception this Thursday, because an Elvis concert was going to be held there as a tribute to Bob/BOBERT.
