A former home site of mine and the place where I renewed my trivia playing in 2007 when the old Thirsty Dog in Fairlawn OH closed, Harpo's Sports Café in Brook Park OH is no more.

After 23 years in the restaurant/bar business, owner Eddie Altman opted not to renew his lease.

Harpo's had a great Happy Hour from 3-7pm weekdays, where a 22-ounce Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold or Sierra Navada Pale Ale could be yours for $2.99. Its Saturday prime rib special was the closest thing to perfection for bar food, and weekday late afternoons once sported spirited NTN play.

Unbeknownst to me at the time, I was there for Harpo's last night of business on January 26 after not having played there for years. Much of the West Park Station team had its roots in Harpo's, myself included.

While not a trivia mecca, Harpo's will nonetheless be sorely missed, at least in Greater Cleveland.

R.I.P. Harpo's, and thanks for everything, Eddie.

It is good to hear Harpo's lasted that long with trivia. Sites these days now are a dime a dozen. Here one day and within 6 months they drop it.
