Nacho Mama's in Tempe AZ has pulled the trigger and ordered Buzztime. One of the owners plays on our team, and since we were looking for a new central location after losing Lucky Break (under new owners, buzztime probably going away), they picked up the torch and are running with it. The system is due to be installed in about 8 weeks. So if any of you travelers are in the Site Rich Valley of the Sun, stop in after the first of the year.

That would be the "Gloriously Site-Rich Valley of the Sun Devil". 8-)

I talked to Steve, the owner of Nacho Mama's recently. They are putting in BT mainly for our team. Problem being that we run 12-15 players on any given Thursday. BT will NOT let you have 15 tablets, you have to get multiples of 10, so he could either have 10, or 20. In my opinion BT is shooting themselves in the foot. You should be able to get whatever number of tablets you want. And of course they charge the hell out of you for them. The mobile app is still a piece of crap, or 10 boxes wouldn't be bad.

You will have 12-15 players. Do all of them play one box only or do at least some of them multibox? Also, boxes can break down and malfunction. Although the main night for trivia may be Thursday, there would be games played at that site on the other nights. As for Thursdays, even if all of your 15 regular players use one box only, another person (or group of people) may still want to play. Therefore, it seems to me that this owner should start with 20 boxes, and then wait and see if the demand for boxes would even suggest going to 30.

Just my two cents.

Is the Classic blue box system still available for a new install?
I would try that if it's possible, it's cheaper and Nachos could get 15 boxes.

The tablet wall chargers hold 10 so that's probably the reason for multiples of 10 vs the blue box chargers hold 5 each.

Did the Nacho owner say how much BT is charging per tablet for the 1 time install fee? I wonder if that has dropped at all yet?

The blue playmakers are no longer available for new installs. I will find out more details on pricing.

That's gotta be a recent change. Black Swan reinstalled Buzztime in late August, and they have the blue boxes

The last pricing I recall was a $3000 one time fee for 10 tablets. The monthly fee was about the same as the classic boxes, about $110 a week for 10. Anyone know anything different?

That is what Steve from Nacho Mama's was told. RTO's is being persuaded to change to tablets also. What the manager there told me was they would give them the tablets now because they are a long time customer, or charge to upgrade them later.

Buzztime to classic sites: Upgrade now for free or be charged later.
Classic sites to Buzztime: F you Buzztime. Take your trivia and leave.

That sounds about right. The only person I know that likes the tablets is my daughter, everyone else I know prefers the blue boxes. BT is aiming for the younger crowd, and this is their way of getting them. Although most of the younger crowd will probably play video games on them, and trivia will eventually be a thing of the past.

I start to notice that if the parents for children don't help set the tablets up for them, they tend to break the kickstands off....B-Dubs in O'Fallon IL has now 5 tablets with one or both kickstand broken...so its difficult to play them like it supposed to.

When I last visited the BWW in Wethersfield, CT, a few weeks ago, they had one box left that still had both kickstands. The bartender said that most of the kickstands were broken within a couple of weeks after this BWW opened. :(

Even BWW Manchester that got the tablets most recently in CT is missing many of the kickstands. Bad design as far as I am concerned as they do come off too easily.

Contrary to the name, Nacho Mama's is not a Mexican/Soul Food restaurant.

Nacho Mamas is officially a Buzztime site as of today, but they closed early to do a few quickie remodel items but will reopen tomorrow. The system is installed with 20 tablets, and a group of us will test drive it tomorrow night. If there are any local players on here (ICEMAN  ) feel free to join us.

If you decide to come by, we will be there between 6:00 and 6:30 PM and probably stay for Showdown and maybe Brainbuster.

And if you play at least 3 boxes total you can finish top 20 on the west feed!

I played at Nacho Mamas during a recent trip (last week 3/13-3/20) to Arizona. Good players and and a pleasant environment. They had did have some technical problems last Tuesday, but I understand these have been ironed out. The owner is an enthusiastic Buzztime backer. I will definitely return when I go to Arizona again.

Clippr, it was a pleasure meeting you and Blitzd. And it looks like the tech issues have indeed been ironed out. Maybe someday I will get to Chi Town for a little trivia.
