Cold Beer & Cheeseburgers drops Buzztime

For some few years, Cold Beer & Cheeseburgers has been conspicuous on the big board in several BT games -- including Countdown, BT Trivia, several of the premium games, and Raceday. Last week, management decided to drop all 15 of its boards and cancel its subscription to BT, as opposed to cutting back to, say, 10 boards. I know the owner, but I've not yet spoken to him about the reason(s) for the decision.

There's still BT at Elsa's Cantina across the street, Cadillac Jack's/Kettering is only a half-mile away, and there are numerous other BT options in this area. Yet, the locals will no doubt miss the ambiance of CBCB.

That sucks. Hopefully they can find a new Raceday location.

It is my understanding that the 5 extra boards do not cost that much. The big monthly cost is for the basic 10 box service.

It's all STU's fault. He just doesn't drink enough. :shock:

Sippin ice tea has killed many a BT bar.

I know we'll see Caddy Jacks more often now.

(the extra 5 boxes only cost $25 a month)

NO!!! How sad! I was fortunate enough to drop by CB&C a few years ago when I was at a conference in Dayton, and found it to be a really nice place, conducive to trivia, with friendly regulars.

Sorry to hear this, FOG. I hope to meet you--probably at Cadillac Jack's--the next time I'm in town.

Man, that sucks. We've always noticed "Cold Beer" on the leaderboards while playing. My old man was convinced that the place had burned down when a strech of 3-4 weeks went by without a Sunday afternoon top 20!! We had planned to take a trip out there some weekend to see the place for ourselves. Guess we'll have to change those plans.

This is GREAT news!!! That's one less Ohio bar GOBLUE has to groan about when we try to beat them on our Saturday outings!! WOOHOO!! :lol:

GOBLUE should be quite used to being beaten by Ohio by now.

Even though there are several other options for players in the area, this is still sad. If ever there was a place that was getting a solid ROI for their Buzztime system... this had to be one of them. I've played here many times and there has always been several other players there. Oh well... I guess this will just mean that Cadillac Jack's and Elsa's will be on the board more often.

I for one will miss seeing that unique name on the leaderboards on Saturday night! Hopefully at some point they will reconsider their decision. I've had at least 7 sites I've played at over the years that have dropped the game, so I can empathize with your predicament. Look forward to seeing you on the boards again, if not at CB&C, at Elsa's or Cadillac Jack's.

Well, there goes one site from my Super Lotto List. You know, the list of Buzztime sites I'd make an extended road trip to visit if I had the time and money.

I'd seen CB&C on the Top 20 list for many years, and I'm sure the bar raked in plenty of money from people passing through the Dayton area stopping in for a bite to eat and a couple of games. If a lower-tier site drops the game, it's their decision, but CB&C lost a LOT of free advertising.

Yes, for premium games it was the one dependable site we could play with no gimmicks (live bands, karaoke, etc)..We are scrambling to find a home on Saturday nights now, guess we'll be nomads on nights Cadillac Jacks has live bands..

We at the old Buffalo Wild Wings (now Varsity Grill) in Tallahassee, FL used to remark we understand cold beer but cold cheeseburgers?

I've been fortunate to have played NTN at a few hundred locations but regret that I never made it to the place with one of the most enticing names in the trivia pantheon. And now I never will.

Good luck, CB&G'ers. I too know what it's like to be NTN dispossessed. Life goes on. And it appears there are great alternatives in the neighborhood. I'm sure LILJOL feels your pain but envies your site-rich yard.
