I think it is official the Green Oak Pub is history. There is a rumor that it will reopen, but from what I understand the game is gone.
The Green Oak had many great players stop by and have drinks with us. I know it was Tiefly's favorite spot in Virginia Beach.
Basically the bar went from very trivia friendly to lukewarm and believe it or not instead of having 8 to 10 players in the afternoon they went down to 1 or 2 players, and the business suffered. Also they made the same mistake as Hometown Hero's its predecessor bar in the area, a succession of crappy bartenders. Bartenders who out right resented trivia players
I'd like to see it come back, but who knows
R.I.P.
Well, that sucks!
The Green Oak was a nice little pub with a variety of very cold beers (call ahead and they would stock a case or two for ya) that was in walking distance of the marina of where my buddy stored his boat. And walking distance to the hotel. Great set up for me.
Good, smart folks playing as a team to earn free drinks and have a good time. I always enjoyed hanging out for a couple days with JBEAR, MARCUS, TOMCAT, & the others, but especially with Ken and you (Tony). Y'all were wonderful to chill out with after yet another fruitless day of chasing BIG fish, though I was proud of the tagged Tautaug that I snagged last year...EGADS!!!
Hopefully, someone will step up and realize what a little gem the Green Oak was, and can be again. Keep the beer just as cold, hire friendly bartenders, and keep BT...the gang will show back up.
