We had to remind ourselves not to hit "4" when it came time for the final wager.

Like it mattered.

What's the cutoff for the Players Plus bonus points in Showdown again? I forget. Sure hope I got my Players Plus points.

DOH! I screwed that up. That's why I ended up in 12th place at Teasers.

Not at all, I'm saying this should be the throw out score for all locations. Again, there is a specific reason why we play best x of x+1 every tournament.

Our question du jour at Danny K's was "The English word for nappy means what in the US?" We aced the pyramid and final question.

Sadly, I had a couple of people with me tonight who haven't played for quite a while. Don't know if I'll get them back to the bar soon.

At least now we know that the "Atlantic Slave Trade" was discontinued first. The P+ cut-off was 25,000, and we all got 4,000 points whether reached it or not.

No big deal. Malfunctions happen. Computers are only human. ;)

Hey everyone, so here's the update: As many of you know, Showdown was a bit, shall we say, screwed up tonight. Our OPs team is looking into it, although I suspect a gremlin of some kind :) It looks like Player Reward Cards got credit for the game. If your site is part of the Travelling Trophy competition, we will be tacking on an extra week to make up for tonight's debacle.

Why do the poor gremlins get blamed for everything? Qui s'excuse, s'accuse.

They should just throw this week out of the tournament and not extend it. Next week is a holiday week and a lot of people are going out of town.

This week is the holiday week here: the people who were interested in the game showed up. too bad we didn't have a game.

So far this year, my site has had one network-wide repeat game, one site-only repeat game due to a connection problem, one other week where the first three questions were missing and then last night's "experience".

That is an error rate of more than 15%.

Its a miracle that we still get 12-15 players each week at our site

Add by edit: The Showdown is flagged on personal stats as a repeat. I suppose that is better than the alternative

If the game had continued correctly, I think we would have done well. Freakanomics answer was pre-called. So was Atlantic slave trade. The "article" answer was pre-called the first time and everytime after.

One further bit of embarassment for the BT crew:

Last night they threw a consolation party for Boston's of newburgh, In (because they apparently screwed up the scoring for the Bostons Showdown tourney and I complained about their problems loud enough, so they threw a local party) during the Article showdown and the NTN rep had to stay the whole evening. Actually sorry I wasn't there.

More than the Showdown game is messed up. None of our scores for Glory Daze, Brainbuster, and Speed our showing up. Also all the games after Speed were repeats. This is the biggest screwup for BT that I can remember.

My scores for Glory Daze, BB and Speed all registered. as they did for most players..the hall of fame is up.

The "perfect score" for SD this week was 48,000. Looks like there were only 27 players with this score.

If the later CD and BT games were repeats, it didn't seem to be reflected in the network leaderboards. I even managed a couple of top 100's with very mundane scores

Where did you play?

As someone who has to drive nearly two hours to get to the nearest NTN site, and can afford to do it only once a week, I was naturally very disappointed last night, and feel like asking for a refund of my $30 for gasoline (good luck!).
If there are any staff left in Carlsbad who care about what happens to the system, they must be as upset as we are, so there is no point in running them down further. What they do not seem to realize, however, is that there should be not just an acknowledgement of a screw-up, but an apology, and a better ecplanation than "gremlins" if they want to keep our support. And these should be posted on the forums, not just on "Twitbook", or whatever it is. Of course, we're still waiting for the same things for the repeat of January 5.

Diamond Lils in Roselle, IL. I just checked and apparently Diamond LIls has not reported out, yet. The CD and BT games were definitely repeats, but Glory Daze, Brainbuster, and Speed were new.

I suspect the inmates are running the asylum. Just a thought.

The 9 p.m. CD game didn't seem to be a repeat to any of the four or five us who played it at Teasers. I left right after that.

I'd love to run an asylum. You gotta go to school for that?

Maybe we had additional problems beyond the Showdown blowdown. Anyway we stopped playing Trivia, as soon as we began recalling the number of the correct answer before they were shown. We played Password which turned out to be a lot of fun. I had never played it

This doesn't even make the top 10. And I know you were around for the 25YOS 1st night fiasco less than a year ago.
