So, no comments about the Lightning Round yet? And Warmup Q1? Where's the outrage?? Have we meekly accepted our lot?

We had a really rough Warmup round. I guess we have begun to accept things like this as par for the course. At least the borgs have been having a tough time of late, it seems--I'd gladly take that in trade for a few pop-culture questions.

As far as the borgs are concerned, I agree with ANON. I just googled Jacques Pepin, and was unable to find that name associated with epidemiology, which as I recall was the final question in Pyramid. That must have been tough for both wetware and borg teams. But I think the real borg-breaker was the final, which asked for the opponents of the Girondists. They had many opponents, so you had to know which of the five possible answers was the right one. Good game. Coincidentally or not, our opponents in the Traveling Trophy contest (Subway Series league) seemed to wilt on that question. They have a player who habitually calls me after midnight on game nights to gloat when they beat us. He didn't call last night, and I believe we've now mathematically clinched the tournament.

Congrats on clinching the win. Maybe one of these days they'll let our team play in one of those. Of course, I'd rather see an old fashioned, all-in, Premier/Platinum/Gold/Silver/Bronze/Open tournament, at least once a year.

I also googled and I find no evidence that the well-known chef and epidemologist Jacques Pepins are one and the same person. Does anyone remember how the question was worded?

Oh, never mind. I just read ken's recap and NTN did not allude that they were the same person. I didn't RTFQ properly.

What was wrong with Warmup Q1? Wheldon's fatal crash (and quite a bit of associated trivia about him) was all over the news recently.

It's not like they asked who finished 3rd in some obscure midget-car race in 2008 or something... THAT would be unfair and ridiculous, but this was fine.
