Congratulations to Msbhvn and Stringz and Wingz for their #1 individual and bar rankings last night.
Last night was a bye (practice) week with the Travelling Trophy Tournament concluded and the McCarthy Cup starting next week.

I'm one of the few players probably glad to see Buzztime sprinkle some Sports questions to water down those 60K+ scores.
Helio Castroneves is an auto racing driver. A Baseball category to pick from all right! Omar Vizquel was born in Venezuela and Jeff Kent is the all time leader in HR's among second basemen. Did anyone see a Hard-Boiled Writer or Food Writer Category question? Thanks to my son providing the answer decades ago to the first Pyramid question, Larry Stevenson helped develop----skateboards. How often did I hear that reference during his growing up? The final question, category, classical music, asked "St. Matthew" and "-----" are the two passions of Bach. Correct answer was St. John which only Arthur got. The rest of us sat on St. Mary til the bitter end. Better to mess up now than later.

First food journalism question asked which food journalist also wrote about animal rights. Can't remember the answer but we got it right basically by elimination (one of the wrong answers was "Anthony Bourdain", for example).

the food writer/animal rights writer was mark bittman who writes for the new york times. the first hard boiled writer asked to identify the writer of a hell of a woman. the answer was jim thompson. we knew the bittman question, but no clue on the thompson question.

TIMUR told us immediately it had to be one of the other gospel writers--Mark, Luke or John--if it was about "The Passion."

Thanks, Rick!

Thanks, Hunk!

Our baseball guy precalled Ryne Sandberg for the second baseman question, and although he began to worry about Kent when he came up as a choice and suggested that some should cover that answer too, we almost all ended up taking the minimum for that one. I'm not complaining, though--we were just happy to nail the last six for the first time in a while.

That must have been the second hardboiled question, since we selected the first one: "The Burglar" and some other title (perhaps "The Moon in the Gutter") were written by: DAVID GOODIS

I don't think anybody on the team had heard of either book, or even of the author, so we avoided the second one. A good thing too, now that I see it.
