New Scaratings

Recollections are going to be extrarough for this particular tournament because an official NTN tournament was being run at the same time. Remember, McCarthy was created because Crimson Sports Grille didn't make the official NTN tournament because a bartender named McCarthy turned the game off just before the final question. To add to the confusion, the same teams sometimes went against each other two consecutive weeks.

I recall Maggie's beating the Wichita team by a very narrow margin (I recall 18 points), but I couldn't tell you which tournament that happened in. I think Maggie's lost to National West Covina in the semifinals of the NTN tournament, but beat them in the semifinals of McCarthy the next week. That was a wild game: two teams had perfect games, the DC team and someone else; Maggie's was 9 points off perfect, and NWC was just a little behind that.

Thanks, STRO. I think I found some confirmation that Maggie's made it into the finals of the McCarthy Cup somewhere. I contacted Kevin Vahey once, but he never got back to me, and I can't seem to find his email address. Is anyone Facebook friends with him or something?

Irish here- from the Fargo ND Tailgator's trivia team.
Email from Stro few weeks back stated that we had to ask to be entered into the McCarthy Cup through the good graces of last years' winning team. Which I take to be BWW/Arlington VA?
Is there anyone from there with whom I can make contact and ask to be included?
Went there and played Showdown back in '03 when they were located at the Grand Slam.
Met TTLPKG/TTLPTZ, Guy and Circe, Patricia, Agrippa and the rest-had email address for Patricia but have since lost; hoping here they get this message-

Wow, sorry you had to met TTLPKG. I'm sure it was an experience. I hope you didn't get any fingers too close, could lose a couple if he was eating.

We will see where (or if) the Grand Slam team shows up after the loss of their BWW. Revolution Fairfax maybe? I know a couple guys took the Metro to the BWW so they now may be out of luck with the extreme lack of BT bars?

Irish, watch this space, I'll be posting information on next year's McCarthy Cup sometime next month. I'm still not sure where/if we'll be playing, but I'll be running it regardless. And consider Tailgator's entered.
