Showdown Recap for 2 Aug 2016 at BWW Gibson in ABQ
Happy Anniversary, Triviots. As of 2 Aug 2016, BLZBUB has been writing recaps of the Showdown Games for SCARatings for FIVE years. Throughout those years BLZBUB’s sophomoric humor has challenged readers of those recaps to persevere until the end each week. The rewards, for people who love sophisticated humor, have been paltry. However there has always been the prospect of seeing some altergory (ALTERNATE CATEGORY) questions not played by your team as a potential reward. BLZBUB is going to salt this recap with links to some of the more memorable past recaps.

BLZBUB has combed the archives for some of these notable results. A flashback to the first recap BLZBUB posted to SCAratings can be found here (if you scroll down):

[The team reverted to the mean on this round 3 correct, one 5-way, and 1 wrong.]
Shortly after moving to our current location (the fourth since Coaches Sports closed), BLZBUB wrote a recap inspired by a certain bad-hair-dyed server at the BWW on Gibson Blvd in Albuquerque.

FINAL TRAGEDY
Topic: ASTRONOMY
An astronomy buff should know that Bellatrix and Saiph are the names of:
1. Comets
2. Galaxies
3. Jovian Moons
4. Stars
5. Constellations
The order of the eliminations was 2, 1, 5, and 3, leaving #4, STARS, as the correct answer. The strongest players on the team almost fell into the trap that “It’s too obvious.” Fortunately CROEM kept his head and reassured the group that STARS was indeed the correct answer. Everyone on the team got all the points they wagered. YES!
The top six boxes coming out of this game scored 52441, 52087, 50754, 49852, 49375, and 48894 points. The team score was a gratifying 50,567 points. This placed the Paunchos at SECOND for the night (un)officially, as West Park Station got stuck with a repeat game. Kudos to them for reporting this. Congrats go out to the team from BWW Annapolis, MD for their top score of 54,261 points. Closely following BWW in ABQ were Tailgate of Minneapolis, Stained Glass Pub in Elkridge, MD, and Parlay Sports of Tallahassee, FL.
