The NY Mets had a legitimate 5-tool talent in right field named Ron Svoboda. But Svoboda could turn the most routine play into an adventure. One game he went back on a fly ball, turned around, stuck up his glove; and the fly ball conked him on the crown of his head.

The Mets' manager, Casey Stengel, was asked about this play after the game.

"My right fielder," Stengel sighed. "He leaps for 'em, but they ain't there."
