Showdown Recap for 26 Sep 2017 at BWW Gibson in ABQ*

It would turn out to be a crazy night at the BWW on Gibson Blvd in the ABQ. First of, the team had to scour the entire establishment to find 15 boxes that actually work. And that’s in an establishment that has 40 machines in total. Next, the Point of Sale system went down and the bar stopped pouring alcohol and some menu items could not or would not be served. However the team persevered and carried on with Showdown.

Thank you, RICKM. (For those who were paying attention, I did receive rotten tomatoes on the Japanese diety question.)

Thanks especially to LILJOL, who did the heavy lifting on no fewer than five of these Scattergories.

I'm afraid you'll have to give up on me. When it comes to recollection, or more pertinently, prediction, I'm so unreliable that Vegas would be justified to shift the odds against my preferences.

Francis Parkinson observed that no Board of Directors, regardless of the enterprise, should fail to include a Man Who is Always Wrong.

Anyone on this thread can PM me on an either-or question, and I shall promptly respond - with the wrong answer. Stock market tips? How about the baseball play-offs?

Betting against me could earn you a fortune! Learn all about this fabulous once in a lifetime opportunity by visiting my website!

We got lucky on this one.

Which not-so-famous American graduated from the Vanderbilt University School of Law in 1982? Your humble correspondent--who remembered seeing the Grantland Rice plaque in Memorial Gym.

But I do think that Rice's most famous quote, found on that plaque, is worth posting here, as a memo to all who Borg, and to all who are proud not to Borg:

"For when the One Great Scorer comes
To mark against your name,
He writes – not that you won or lost –
But how you played the Game."
