The entire team finished with only 3 of 5 correct for this round. ARRGH!

FINAL TRAGEDY
Topic: U.S.PRESIDENTS

Which U.S. President graduated from Union College in 1848?

1. William McKinley
2. Andrew Johnson
3. Woodrow Wilson
4. Franklin Pierce
5. Chester Arthur

The order of the eliminations was 3, 1, 4, and 2, leaving #5, CHESTER ARTHUR as the correct answer. Three of the team got a box on this choice right away. Three others went here after about 50 per cent of the points they had wagered decayed off the board.

There were so many helpful clues to this answer embedded in the question. But we couldn’t put them together fast enough for the whole team to benefit. It’s too long a story to tell here.

The top individual scores for the night were 48864, 46908, 45227, 40560, 39259, and 36832 points.

The team’s average score for this game was 42,941 points.

The Ragged Rascals’ systemwide ranking was TENTH Place. But we note with disgust that the #1, 3 and 5 finishers were Borg Collectives. Hey wait, that means we actually finished SEVENTH where it counts.

The wetware-only rankings were:
1. BWW Arlington aka the Grand Slam at 49682,
2. Houlihan’s Westbury, NY @ 46728
3. BWW Kent, OH aka The Fellowship @ 46085
4. BWW Montgomery, AL @ 44998
5. CK’s Tavern, Phoenix, AZ @ 44919
6. T’s Rockin… of Columbus, MI @ 43082
7. The Ragged Rascal, BWW ABQ @ 42941
8. Old Barn, Portland, OR @ 42790
9. BWW Denton, TX @ 42426, and
10. Four Corners of Chapel Hill, NC @ 42363.

Congrats to all. For details of the McCarthy Cup, tune into ANON's write-up.

And who, may we inquire, is the referee of this wager?

I didn't play the quiz, but was witness to the question in real time. Perhaps if I had been playing, I would have been more vehement regarding the correct answer, and the Tailgate might have taken me seriously. But I wasn't, and they didn't. So, discounting BWW-Gibson and the Tailgate, is the wager to be resolved by no positive response, but rather by silence?

The whole business seems flimsy to me, but a worthwhile excuse to resurrect the pleasant custom of duelling with pistols.

I would speculate, could this have been learned by someone at a visit to a Sea World?

WHALES may know more than he's letting on.

The privilege of menopause would only be granted to an apex species.

I have not been ignoring you on this, BLZBUB. The fact is that I was unable to attend on Tuesday, so I just did not know what happened in Kent. I asked a teammate today, and she said that while most of the team gravitated toward chimp, a few were trying to suggest the whale and ended up landing on that (BOTAN is our usual go-to person on animal questions, and it looks like he probably was one of them).

So no, The Fellowship did not get it right, although probably half the people who contributed to the team score did. I'm not sure how you will score that for the bet.
