Just a quick note here: I understand from another thread that there were issues with Showdown in at least some bars last night. I'm still at work, and will be for a while longer, so I won't be able to focus on this for a few hours. I did notice from the NTN site that the scores were quite low for a lot of bars, suggesting this was more widespread than just the couple of sites that have mentioned issues thus far.

If your site did have issues last night (beyond the people who have already posted in the other thread), please let me know, either by posting here (or in the other thread), or by pm'ing me or sending me an e-mail.

Kc’ time oout had no showdown ladt night

So, as of now, three teams have reported problems during their Showdown games last night. In addition, three of our competing teams have 0 points, according to the NTN site, which may well be attributable to the glitch. A further half dozen or so teams have scores well below their normal output, although last night's final question was fairly difficult, so I don't want to make any assumptions on the reason for those scores.

I'm going to give folks a little more time to report any problems at their site, and I'll make a decision tomorrow on whether or not to throw out last night's results.

P.S. If anyone is seeing teams reporting problems on BadBart, please pass that along to me as well. Merci.

Based on what Bo said in the other thread (Stadium Cafe has a score in BB but none in SD); it is likely that Stadium Cafe was affected by the problem.

Time Out West reported that they had no television monitor questions during Showdown (screen remained blue). They were able to play on their phones.

Speaking solely for myself, this is the first time in 20+years of NTN-dom I've seen a problem quite like this one, with different variants of the problem in different locations. What I'm beginning to wonder about is what happens to McCarthy if this continues to happen, here and there, in weeks to come, and what can Buzztime do about it?

I had sent this comment to Anon:

One symptom of Tuesday's problem is that it seemed to affect the TV screens most. So locations with the old boards, seemed to have the worst effect (Mad River, Blue Goose, Stadium). At Teasers, we rebooted the whole wi-fi, which may be the reason we got the game back partially though. As I wrote in Scar, though, even our "lower'" actual scores (35K) were overwritten by 1500 and the like.

Wednesday night all was fine at Teasers.

I wish I could say the system screwed up, but BWW-Blacksburg just had a bad night.

Was told that Stadium Cafe actually suffered a power outage that affected the entire strip mall. Could this have been caused by a fault in the BT CPU? Perhaps.

I waited as long as I could to give people time to weigh in. So far, three bars have confirmed having their scores affected by the problems on Tuesday night. Of the three other bars that put up zeros in Showdown, BO tells us that Stadium was hit by a (probably) unrelated power outage, and the other two--Time Out in St. Louis, and Blue Goose--did not record a score in Brainbuster either, suggesting they may have taken the night off.

So that leaves us with three bars out of 27 that seem to have had issues Tuesday night. That does not meet the "all or most of the system" bar set in the rules, so I will be counting Tuesday night's scores. I sympathize with the teams that had the problems, but that's why we have a drop.

As far as I can tell, the Fellowship, Crystal City, and Danny K's have clinched spots in the Sweet 16, but everything else is up for grabs. Best of luck/skill/system performance to everyone on Tuesday.

So far as I know, the Blue Goose had no issues--but, then again, I wasn't there. After people who told me they would participate didn't participate the first two weeks, and we only managed to get 4 boxes in each week, I pretty much threw in the towel, and I'm pretty sure no-one else showed up, either. I won't officially have us withdraw, but it's pretty obvious we've been eliminated.

I don't know if anyone has been re-posting my results notes to the various fora that I am not part of (BadBart, Facebook, etc.), but I would appreciate it if someone could post this one, so that teams who are only active on those fora know where they stand. Thanks.

Unfortunately for the second week, KC time out did not get the showdown game. We got all games before and after but not that one. Probably would not affect our placing in the top 16, but still a disappointment
