The big screen at Buster's Bar, Ottawa ON showed the Q&A for the preceding BRAINBUSTER Game, but showed only the blue buzztime Entertainment intro screen for the Warm-up and Countdown Rounds of the SHOWDOWN Game. 5. Peroration [see https://www.dictionary.com/browse/peroration ]

6. Moses [see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Nebo ]

8. Virginia [see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_NCAA ... Tournament ]

9. Oregon [we at Buster's Bar, Ottawa ON missed this one, going with Wisconsin; see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tillamook,_Oregon ]

10. 18th [I pre-called this one; see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jane_Austen (1775-1817) ]

11. Rainfall [we deduced this from "pluie"="rain" in French; see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pluvial_lake ]

12. Calvin Harris [we mostly missed this one; see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tg00YEETFzg ]

13. Smallest [see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pineal_gland and the diagram of the human body at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endocrine_gland ]

14. The Sign of Four [this was a Sherlock Holmes story in the 5 Choices; see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sign_of_the_Four ]

15. Devon [Richard (ACE) pre-called this one; see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clotted_cream ]

16. Harriet Tubman [see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harriet_Tubman ]

17. Small table [Shawn (AKBAR) from Delaware joined us after playing in the annual Skat tournament near Ottawa, and called this one; see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gueridon ]

18. Spanish [see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goya_Awards ]

19. Kenya [see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uganda_Railway ]

22. Titian [I pre-called "Whistler" because I was thinking of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symphony_ ... White_Girl , but Whistler was not one of the 5 Choices. The year 1561 was way too early for the Whistler (1861-62), and of the 5 Choices, only Titian was consistent with 1561. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portrait_ ... y_in_White .]

23.(a) Galaxies [I pre-called this one; see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cartwheel_Galaxy , https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Eye_Galaxy , and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messier_82 ]

24.(a) Charleston [Myfanwy pre-called this one, and wanted me to mention this in this summary; see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rainbow_Row ]

25.(a) Gustav Mahler [I pre-called this one; see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symphony_No._2_(Mahler) and for a 1:26:27 performance of this massive symphony, see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4MPuoOj5TIw .]

26.(a) Eruption of Kilauea [we missed most of the Points on this one, requiring clues; see https://globalnews.ca/news/4221284/laze ... fic-ocean/ . "Laze"=Lava+haze and "Vog"=Volcano+fog .]

27.(a) Draco [I pre-called "Solon", which is wrong, but recognized Draco as soon as the Choices appeared; see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draco_(lawgiver) ]

28.(a) Beryllium [I pre-called "Calcium, Strontium..." on the way to reciting the 6 Alkaline Earth metals; Magnesium was eliminated in the first Clue, so we went with Strontium (Choice #1) and I did not notice Beryllium (Choice #5) - usually there are only 2 Choices in the same family of elements (e.g. Alkaline Earths) . No one memorizes boiling points, especially in Fahrenheit, and there is no simple trend in the Alkaline Earths:
For Be (element 4), see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beryllium (b.p. 2742 K, 2469 Celsius, 4476 Fahrenheit).
For Mg (element 12), see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnesium (b.p. 1363 K, 1091 Celsius, 1994 Fahrenheit).
For Ca (element 20), see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calcium (b.p. 1757 K, 1484 Celsius, 2703 Fahrenheit).
For Sr (element 38), see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strontium (b.p. 1650 K, 1377 Celsius, 2511 Fahrenheit).
For Ba (element 56), see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barium (b.p. 2118 K, 1845 Celsius, 3353 Fahrenheit).
For Ra (element 88), see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radium (b.p. 2010 K, 1737 Celsius, 3159 Fahrenheit).

29. 12th Century [we had a variety of guesses; see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leaning_Tower_of_Pisa ]

30. Key Largo [we first guessed "High Sierra", losing some Points; see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Key_Largo_(film) ]

31. Moonraker [I called this one; see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moonraker_(sail) ]

32. Wind and water [Shawn (AKBAR) called this one, but others like me guessed wrong (Balance of nature); see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feng_shui ]

33. Vodka [AKBAR pre-called this one; see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cape_Codder_(cocktail) ]

34. Maniple [Jean (LESTER) called this one; see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maniple_(military_unit) ]

35. Korean [see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K-pop ]

36. Algeria [Most went with this one, now that Sudan has been reduced by the loss of South Sudan (Sudan is now #3 in Africa, after Algeria and the Democratic Republic of the Congo; see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_A ... es_by_area ]

37. Apple [Richard (ACE) called this one; see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bramley_apple ]

38. Venice [Most went with this one, others with Paris. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teatro_San_Cassiano which says 1637 for the first public opera, where "public" meant for the paying public rather than for nobles exclusively. The first great opera was Monteverdi's "L'Orfeo" of 1607 for a court performance in Mantua; see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L'Orfeo . The first opera is considered to be "Dafne" by Jacopo Peri (1598) for the elites in Florence; see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dafne .]

39. Clockwork Orange [I pre-called this one; see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Clockwork_Orange_(novel) ]

40. Poland [Chris (CEEZED) pre-called this one; see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanna_Suchocka , https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ewa_Kopacz , and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beata_Szydlo ]

41. White [I pre-called this one; see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IqOrCiOquRI for a demonstration of magnesium burning in air. Carbon dioxide (CO2) can be used as a fire extinguisher for burning paper, wood or oil/gasoline, but magnesium will burn quite well in pure CO2, as the metal Mg rips oxygen from the carbon of CO2; see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2oQ_9nFe9HU ]

I think the other U.S. Cities question asked for the largest city in West Virginia, making "Charleston" the correct answer for two different questions even though they are in two different states.
