Jean played 2 tablets, as LESTER and as HEINZ, at Buster's Bar, Ottawa ON. Myfanwy played only as SPRAJO. We had only 5 Players, so 3 of us played 2 tablets each, for a total of 8 tablets that were registered (Joe joins us as MRIQ or REBEL for the early games, but doe not want to register, so his scores don't count).

The other 1971 question asked something like "The theme of which movie became a hit song?" (SHAFT)

The other Italian Cuisine question asked what kind of dish is _______ (I can't remember what it was, maybe Zabaione?). The answer was "DESSERT."

Out of the blue, without apparent prompt, REACH offers us a snapshot of his table, a kindly gesture. As earlier noted, under the Sweet Peas thread, our local competition at Sweet Peas brung us down at BWW-MOA. Here's what it looked like at the Mall of America:

Five questions into the Warm-Up Round, we had five tablets at our table. There is no go-to manager for Buzztime maintenance.

None of the players at BWW-MOA are willing to carry a second device to raise a site score. BETH, maybe, but she wasn't present. My own opinion, often repeated, is that the privilege of a site score should be reserved for players sociable enough to attract the five or six players needed to compete for a site score. Feel free to win the quiz as an individual. I win Showdown on a routine basis, maybe once every ten years, typically in a group of three.

Now it happens that BWW-MOA didn't get past Sweet Peas this last Tuesday, but we did finish 12th, or thereabouts. The five of us, and to make up the requisite six, one of the players at the rail, managed a 36K. But as for those players at the rail....

Those sites typically accused of cheating didn't show much on this quiz. In that light I'm very leery of the players at the rail here at the Mall of America. They'll fail to collect a 10K score on Brainbuster, and then run the last six questions in Showdown. Sure enough, one of them answered Final Showdown correctly. The others didn't. But Spectators didn't show up either.

Like Blanche DuBois, I've always depended on the kindness of strangers. But neither Blanche nor I would count for much in a New Scaratings tournament.
