I've received notification from Buzztime that owing to popular demand, Brainbuster shall be replaced by two 7 question quizzes this Tuesday, Cinema Trivia and Pop Culture Trivia. I happened to see a sample of those quizzes Sunday night.

The questions, Sunday night, referenced future media events among people who are famous for being famous, and of nothing which might interest a Brainbuster player. The graphics were sky blue against white, or similarly absurd - not unlike Smartest Bar.

Be advised! After these silly quizzes appeared at B-52, in the 5:30 PDT time slot, B-52's server spontaneously shut down, and rebooted itself, over perhaps 4-8 minutes. Such a system failure costs points. Showdown players involved in the Sandbag Tournament who see Cinema and Pop in the 7 PM time slot may wish to request a reboot of their house systems before the main event.

For many years, Buzztime has presented a 7-question quiz, Lunchtime, delivered in 4/3 segments. In the quizzes I saw Sunday, the segments were 5/2, and so awkwardly presented - I thought there would only be one stupid half-hour quiz, instead of two 7 question, 15-minute quizzes, which proved to be twice as stupid - I figured that B-52's servers shut down from overload.

Tournament players have a couple weeks to exhale. Dedicated Brainbuster players, such as yr avg GONE D. must fend as fend we can.

Replacing BB with these games is stupid. Money is money, though, and we will play at Walsh's.

Yet another decision made by those totally ignorant of their product and the history of such. I've got more place as a college sorority housemother than these games do in place of BrainBuster.

I see no reason to play on Tuesdays until November.

The Sandbagger Tournament will resume on October 15, so no one needs to worry about malfunctioning equipment for that reason the next two Tuesdays.

We'll see how much of a problem that may be down the road tonight, not that I enjoy missing chunks of Showdown any week.

I found a Brainbuster option on my playmaker and switched to that. And a fat lot of good it did me. The server at B-52 spontaneously shut at the end of Round 1, and didn't reboot itself until the start of Round 3. In the meanwhile I have learned that this is a site, rather than a system, issue.

The questions that I saw were all fresh, to my dim memory, and didn't appear to be taken from past quizzes via some algorithm.

How did you get to the Brainbuster option? Were you using the tablets, or the old blue playmakers?

That option can only be done on the blue playmakers.

Not true, I have seen game selection demonstrated on tablets

I've seen the 20 tablets at The Chicago Loop locked out of trivia for the poker players on Thursday nights from 7PM until they're done.
There must be a management function on these tablets.

The General Manager at B-52 spoke with Carlsbad, which informed him that Buzztime was aware of the spontaneous shut-down/reboot, and working on it - which means that it is systemic and intermittent.

The High Holidays fall at a very convenient time this year.

We won $100 Thursday and found a new reason to hate this game. Congrats to West Park for being 73 points better and winning the $400.

(only 3 quotes can be embedded, so..........)

Bud - That option can only be done on the blue playmakers.

Kent - Not true, I have seen game selection demonstrated on tablets

Ray - I've seen the 20 tablets at The Chicago Loop locked out of trivia for the poker players on Thursday nights from 7PM until they're done. There must be a management function on these tablets

Bud - If someone has the process to this through the tablets I would love to hear it through PM.

I know there is an online process where managers go to my.buzztime.com and enter a username and pw. Then they can choose games and do the poker tourney set up/lock out. Most bars have never set up this online username/pw.
