This game was the first time in months where we had a nearly full team attendance. In addition, we had two team members who only sit in periodically, because they have other "distractions." AS BLZBUB says, they let their personal lives get in the way of trivia!
At any rate, their presence materially aided our score. In fact, on the Final Tragedy my friend Drukell, who only plays once a month, nailed the answer. He just happens to have a Masters degree in geology. He pre-called Mesozoic for the era that contains the Jurassic. These geologic eras are a notorious deficiency for the rest of our team.
There were a few instances where someone on the team was able to correct erroneous pre-calls by another player. For example MEERA was able to wave off BLZBUB's call for Ukraine as a not-neighbor of Romania, and call Slovakia correctly. Then BLZBUB was ae to call Andorra as the county using the Euro as currency, when DUFF suggested Switzerland. [Blzbub had just returned from a Rhine River cruise, where he'd used Swiss FRANKS.] There were a few more such incidences, which escape my memory.
It was a complete team participation event, leading to our highest score in 2022. It was gratifying to see the Borg shut out this week.
