How’s the “best of the rest” competition coming along? It looks like most of the 9th place and down teams are still playing as you would expect.

Congrats to the 2 favorites making the McCarthy Final again. Excellent performances to back up those top rankings. It’s tough to constantly avoid a land mine. Danny Ks had 22 boxes and the Fellowship had 19.

So, what’s the story on Hanko’s? I’m not familiar with them. Mensa J is on the team so I guess they are some of his old team from Portland OR?

Thanks, MERKIN! As I mentioned elsewhere, when we saw the initial splash-screen saying we came in #2, we were legitimately worried you had gotten us until the full Network Rankings page appeared.

IIRC, Teaser's has a pretty good record on these de facto 3rd-place games. Hanko's ought to watch out, indeed.

Pretty well, it seems. Every eligible team wanted to participate, which I think is good for the total playership numbers--Showdown had almost as many players as Brainbuster, despite the game still not being on the app. Newcomer Alabama's Little Bit of Texas made a move into first place this week, with perennial power Time Out West not far behind:

Thanks, BUD! It was everything we could do to keep those 19 boxes working for the whole game--several of us had to run boxes back to the chargers between rounds just to make sure they would not crap out before the end of the game. I welcome the day when the game is back on the app.

The Fellowship would like to extend its sincerest congratulations to our friends at Danny K's, not only for their thumping win in the McCarthy Cup championship game, but also for their sweep of both the Sandbag and McCarthy trophies. The Fellowship, the Kalamazoo Krew, and Concert Pub(Houston) are the only other teams ever to pull that off, and only Danny K's and The Fellowship have managed to do it more than once. They now take proud possession of The Ugliest Trophy In Any Realm Of Human Endeavor(TM) for the fourth time (at least as soon as someone on their end sends me shipping instructions). Congrats again to them for a terrific tournament!

And now, in accordance with tradition, I declare the 23rd Annual McCarthy Cup Tournament closed, and I call upon the Triviots of the world to assemble a few months from now to celebrate the 15th Annual Sandbag Tournament, to be hosted by Danny K's.

Well, to be fair, according to Don Denton's site you guys have been among the top-ten non-computer using teams for the last couple of years, as well as a Sandbag quarterfinalist last year. I think that makes you at LEAST an Ennial power.
