New Tournament for August-Sept

During commercial breaks, Buzztime has been advertising a 6 week Showdown Throwdown Tournament starting on August 3 and running until September 7th.

Given the 6 week nature of the tournament, I'm guessing this will be a traditional tournament with the standard leagues and dropping of worst week's score.

Can't find anything in the Happenings section of the website however.

I sent a message to Buzztime. Hope they tell us when the next showdown tourney will be.

I just checked with Red on Facebook re Throwdown's status. Her reply:

"The National Showdown Throwdown will be running from Sept 21 - October 26. Leagues and info will be posted on the web site at the beginning of Sept!"

Won't we be due for Sandbagger around then?

The people who hold the Sandbagger trophy are the same ones who ran the recent McCarthy Cup tournament, as I recall. That was such a cockup that I don't have much faith in them. Probably they will defeat the whole purpose of the Sandbagger and allow people to use "references." And the Showdown score will be combined with Wednesday night's Pasttime games.

I've talked to some of the folks at Fletcher's, and I suspect that the Sandbag tourney will be much like previous ones.

No, and given that in the recent past MaryC was the point person for these tournaments, I would not be surprised if this gets postponed again.

Of course, I also would not be surprised if Buzztime posted the tournament announcement on September 17 and the leagues on September 20. :roll:

Actually, BT does a good job advertising on the website, and a crappy job on the network where every single eyeball actually is!

It's up now.

Very surprised that we ended up back in Premier...thought we were a lock for Platinum. By my calculations, we were 66th overall. Not really sure how it might have happened, other than a bunch of top sites dropping BT??
