New Scaratings

Hi all BUD and I have discussed the return of the Six Challenge. As MUDEE cannot do it himself we have decided that it is time for the Six Challenge to return. The tournament will be similar to the way MUDEE did it, but not as long.

MUDEE ran the first three episodes of this tournament. This is installment #4. The first three winners were Walsh's, Concert Pub, and West Park Station. Will the next winner be your team? Maybe, but you have to sign up to find out.

The tournament will run from May 4, 2017 through June 1, 2017. The winner will be the team/location with the best total score for four out of the five weeks for Thursday Six. Each team will be able to drop a score for one of the five weeks. If your team needs to change locations let IDJT know in advance of the Six game and the scores at the alternate location will be counted.

The scoring system is pretty straightforward. It is expected that the teams will play all wetware since that is now the accepted culture. To participate you will be asked to post to scaratings, Badbart, Facebook, or to email IDJT at idjit5500@yahoo.com by midnight May 1, 2017.

Keep in mind that we are now a very fractured community and BUD and I will probably not be able to get this message to all the teams that may want to participate. So I ask that if you know of a team that might like to participate or a team that you would like to compete against please contact them and let them know about this tournament. BUD and I would like to honor MUDEE with as large a field as we can get.

As reluctant as I am to put up the Six Challenge Trophy, the winner will receive the trophy to hold until we hold the next tournament in 2018. The winner this year will be obligated to forward the trophy to next year's winner. BUD and I have decided to run the tournament ourselves for the foreseeable future so the winner will not be required to administer the tournament next year.

Let's have a great competition and let's have a great tribute to MUDEE.

Jim, Thanks for suggesting the revival of Mudee's challenge. He did spend a lot of time designing and making the trophy you have there at West Park.

Hope we can get some new bars that haven't bothered to join in the past, to honor Mudee.

I see that it is Thursday night SIX, sorry didn't read carefully enough, we can not field a complete team on Thursdays due to work schedules and other committments, so we cannot participate sorry

I'm sorry to read that too but I'm not surprised. I know you have work commitments and it would be difficult for Tim to get over there. We would still love to have a local competitor and particularly the Mill. In the last tournament we competed with as few as two players totaling five boxes. So I hope you can reconsider.

We told IDJT during his sojourn this past week, but to make it official:

Still plenty of time till May. We sure could use some more locations in this tribute to Mudee.

California and Texas seem to be missing. I believe there are also locations in Minnesota that play Six every week. I will have to pull up Don Denton's Six list to see if an invite to the regular locations is in order.

Does anyone know where Mudee's team is playing in AZ these days?

Anybody else feel like putting their bar in just for the hell of it? 2 decent players on 5 boxes will do nicely. We've played it that way in the past and might this time too, on certain weeks.

GOD is Salisbury MD has informed me that he will play in the Mudee Challenge.

He will be playing solo on 5 boxes at BWW Salisbury MD. I'm sure most of you have seen him mostly listed for Wed SIX but he will do Thur SIX for a short while to honor Mudee.

Any other solo 5 box players out there wish to join in? Or bars with 2-3 players? There is no need for a huge team, this isn't the McCarthy Cup.

Where are the Houston bars? the Massachusetts bars?

The New York City team, which usually plays SIX on Wednesday, would like to enter the tournament. We will probably be playing at Mad River. Looking forward to the challenge, and hope that BWW Kent will take part.

B-52 Burger and Brew is installing a rooftop patio, a massive undertaking which has blocked off 80% of the dining room. The patrons are packed together like sardines and the place won't take reservations, so nobody would be playing Six there now apart from the occasion guest from one of the nearby motels.

The group that had been playing at B-52 decamped to Wild Bill's Woodbury. This group, Team Rob, consists of two couples who specifically don't want anyone else to join them. (For whatever reason they made an exception for me, but socially I found it untenable and nowadays only rarely play Six.) Nor will the one couple play without the other, and both couples have immanent travel plans. My apologies.

Simple, just come down to Chicago every week. Maybe Gypsy has a side car for her bike which you could ride.

It's only a 392-mile jaunt from Wild Bill's in Woodbury to Walsh's in Westmont (that sounds like the beginning of a children's story). Certainly worth it to play with the likes of Merkin and me, right?

Thanks for the low down on the politics of MN, Gone D. All I know is Wild Bills seems to make the top 20 every week. Whoever the couples are, they did well last night coming in 13th. No one ever said a bar couldn't do quite well in a tourney with 2 competing teams as long as they have 5 boxes.

I'm meeting ROB and LORBOR this afternoon and I'll pass along the compliment. Whether I can get them signed up is no more likely than my riding anywhere with GYPSY, unless she blindfolds me first.

I sent an email to the people at Kent who I think play SIX,and haven't heard back. I could try again.

Mea culpa. I enjoy such an off-hand relationship with the calendar, with fact, correct spellings and stuff.

VIPER and TQ are back from their vacation, and ROB and LORBOR don't have a vacation planned until July.

So BUD and IDJIT can safely enroll WILD BILLS WOODBURY among the contestants.

It should be noted that LORBOR booked a flight to Boston, which is going to cut her out of the May 18 Six quiz. KRISPY or me or JOHNL shall fill in. LORBOR booked her flight without consulting ROB, her husband. Her week-long trip cuts across their 8th wedding anniversary.

Jeez! I thought that forgetting anniversaries was only a guy thing. We're living in modern times.

That's great Gone D, thanks for facilitating the entrance of Wild Bills. Hopefully the anniversary couple will still be talking by the time LORBOR gets back.
