the field seems set at 15 teams a few more than last year. good luck and good skill to everyone. this field is very strong. i thank everyone who is in. i think mudee would be pleased. i am so looking forward to this.

The 1st bomb of the tourney has been dropped by the B 52 crew. Nice aim.

I wasn't at BWW-Kent last night, but I got a call about 45 minutes before the game from someone who was. He told me the management told him the tournament was "cancelled" for the night at BWW because of the Cavs playoff game. From the looks of the HOF this morning, it looks like they meant it--BWW-Kent does not appear at all. I'm not sure if anyone will want to continue playing the tournament after that, but I'll let you know.

Thanks, BUD. It's not always what you know but who you know, and JOHNL was able to recruit his comrade-in-arms BACHO from the old Demori's Brain Trust. Both of them have been ranked among the top 10 Six players in the past. Neither seems to have lost his touch.



For sheer gormlessness that could be hard to beat. The closest I can come? I had an exchange with a manager who wouldn't provide a Buzztime screen:

"But GONE D, this is a sports bar. I need to put sports on all the screens."

"But Mark, this IS a sports bar. And we're the only ones in here who are actually COMPETING. The rest of your patrons, if they're here to watch sports, are just taking their couch potato act out into public."

Mysterious indeed is why the Kent players didn't go ahead and play anyhow. BWW-Kent is a tablet site, isn't it, with the questions displayed on the device? Or did management deny the players access to the tablets? That would be truly nuts.

I just heard some details from my contact who was there last night. It turns out that the whole thing was a miscommunication. Apparently BWW-Kent usually does live trivia on Thursdays; and because of the Cavs game, the live trivia was cancelled. The wait staff probably heard "trivia is cancelled" in their briefing that day, and when someone came in saying he was there for the tournament, they probably thought he meant the live trivia and told him it was cancelled.

If there is a silver lining to this, it is that when my contact talked to the manager, he was extremely apologetic for the misunderstanding, told him to go up and get a table, and said he and anyone else who came for the SIX tournament was welcome to play. He went out of his way to say how much he appreciated the Tuesday team's business and how he has worked hard to try accommodate us (and we all agree he really has). Unfortunately, by that time anyone else who might have come out for the tournament was probably turned away, and the two regular Thursday night players (TED and JBP) apparently left around 7 PM for whatever reason.

I am not optimistic that the few Thursday night folks will want to continue (even with the dropped score), but I will ask.

In fairness, GONED helped BACHO and me quite a bit on last night's quiz (particularly the opera section in the matching round). He just got some bad advice by the players around him on a couple of questions.

We were looking for ANON's team in the bar standings and wondered what happened to them.

That's awful.

I expect our team will be out in full force in Gaithersburg Thursday in spite of, nay, in part because of, Game 5 going on at the same time. May even stay later to see the Capitals raise the Cup

Good luck to just about everyone playing tonight. There are a couple teams that need another bump in the road.

It will be a crazy Stanley Cup night here in MD. We will be just fine keeping 1 tv on BT. I hope the other local teams fare well in the mosh pit of BWWs around here tonight.

The Cavs playing sent 1 team packing last week but that won't happen in Gaithersburg with the Caps. Management knows us too well. I just hope we can remember to hit a few bottons during Six.

Bring home the Cup.

Congrats to West Park on taking week 2. Too bad the Cavs weren't playing last night as well as the Caps. Nice win for the mistake by the Lake. The good news, all 15 bars played this week. Kent is back in the hunt for the trophy.

Dang that million year old Creosote bush. We were within 1200 pts of our 2nd place finish from last week. Too bad most everyone else did much better than last week.

I frequently play at Lonas in Long Beach and I am curious who signed up for this tourney. I can see they barely have a team and mostly no regulars. Those I have spoken to have no idea what I am even talking about. Anyone have any insight on this?

Was great meeting you and getting some of the Old gang back together. Apparently playership has dropped a ton in the Derby City.
I am really rusty (Didn't even watch the clues and missed my Six Marathon bonus) but hope to start playing a bit more.
