If I've read the Smartest Bar rules correctly, Week 7 is a competition among only the top 10 sites which have survived the 5/6 winnowing. How soon until the regulars at Mad River drum out of the bush those players who somehow materialize only when circumstances are most hazardous?

Sorry, but previously scheduled vacations are affecting our team.

If you and DAR are on your way to Maine, I have two regrets: first, that you won't be at Mad River; second, that I won't be in Maine with you.

A Final Showdown posed to us in the Up Country Saloon, in North Conway NH, yea many years ago: The largest dam in Venezuela is named:

You and DAR proposed a Spanish name, which seemed plausible. We were all playing for 60's, and were barely able to salvage a couple thousand points to land in the low 40's. The correct answer was Guari.

I solved the question, after the fact. The biggest dam in Venezuela would have been built by Hugo Chavez, the nascent dictator. A populist, he would have named the dam for a native tribe which the dam displaced.

There's nothing like 20/20 hindsight. Nothing at all, except the first taste of autumn in Maine.
