Where's the challenge? With two players we beat 13 of the 14 teams. I figure if we added HELIX we could yawn our way to the trophy.

Well, that was one week.....why don’t you play the last 3 weeks and see? Last week could be the drop score. Keeping track of Ben’s scores, so might as well add Stadium to the secondary list of lazy, part time, latecomers.

Not much expectation that we can win this thing, but there is great joy in beating Walsh's.

There's a serious advantage in this tournament to any house that can turn in one spectacular success, as Walsh's did in the first round. But then, regardless whether you shoot the moon that one time, you can't cough up two hairballs, either.

I recall thinking, early in 2001, that if I could just collect a 50K in Showdown that I would die happy. I'd probably played Showdown twenty times, and just couldn't get over the hump. Then?

The first time I broke 50K it was with a 62,491, and I won the quiz. So I'm not giving up on Ray J, not quite yet.

Can I trade Bens' valiant effort last night for a replay of game 7?

Nah, on the replay Binnington wouldn't have allowed that late goal, and the dainty Bruins would have been whitewashed. Move on, SAKIC, and fix the Red Sox. Get past the impossible and concentrate on the unlikely. If you're feeling especially disconsolate, you can always hug the Lombardi Trophy.

After three weeks, it's looking more and more like a two-horse race, West Park Station vs. Walsh's Bar, with defending champion Mad River a deep third. My group couldn't distinguish between Susan Sontag's "In America" and Walker Percy's "The Moviegoer," in the Matching Round. The question cost everyone at B-52 2,000 points, but we're only in it for the laughs, or maybe, because Boston's sports teams so outperform Minnesota's, to assuage our deeply rooted but utterly justified inferiority complex.

West Park still on top. Not much changed this week. Top 5 with 60+ scores put more distance on the rest of the pack by total score. The drop 1 is more interesting for the mid pack horse race for 4th place.

Looks like NHL Network gave you one Friday night. Not surprisingly, it came out the same way.

It seems that Boomerz Austin TX did play least week though they were showing as not playing when Don got the scores off the BT site.
Fetish, Fetysh, etc, etc reported that their score is now showing on the BT site as 59329.

I guess Don will figure it out when he gets the numbers again the day before the next game.

I wonder what his Fetish is????

My semi-educated guess is BWW - Braintree, MA.

The Department of Lost Opportunities reports that MAX/PEANUT was playing solo Thursday Six last night at BWW-Apple Valley, twenty minutes down the road from B-52 Burgers and Brew. He finished with a 48K on a quiz stiff enough that it currently counts as the drop week for the 7-8 highest scoring sites in this tournament.

If I'd known he was there, I would have sent down Mouse Hollow Taxi & Limo and covered the fare. The one time DOTCOM and I played with him, we finished 2nd in Showdown at the Tailgate. Rats!

With one week to go it's still West Park up by a good margin. Close enough race for 2nd. Also close for 5th place through 8th.

Great to see all the bars playing all the games so far.

I'll add the BWW Braintree drop score points to Ben's earlier games even though the bikers did play SIX at Ben's during their biker party. You might want the Biker's score over Braintree.

We are at Mad River, and we didn't get the sports game, just another Countdown. We went into Manager functions and found the game is set for Countdown the rest of the night; no SciFi, no Six. We'll reboot after we see the scores to see if others are affected, but this doesn't look good.

We saw the scores, and all the usual suspects were there, so we are assuming this is system-wide. We rebooted, buut it did no good.
