New Scaratings

Hi all, BUD and I have scheduled this year's edition of the Thursday Six Challenge. The tournament will be similar to the way MUDEE did it, but not as long.
MUDEE ran the first three episodes of this tournament. This is installment #6. The previous winners were Walsh's, Concert Pub, West Park Station, Walsh's and the most recent winner, Mad River.

The tournament will run from May 30, 2019 through June 27, 2019. The winner will be the team/location with the best total score for four out of the five weeks for Thursday Six. Each team will be able to drop a score for one of the five weeks. If your team needs to change locations, let IDJT know in advance of the Six game and the scores at the alternate location will be counted.

While the system glitch that has affected Showdown and Spotlight has not hit Six, we are adding a proviso that in the event a system-wide failure or glitch affects more than 25% of the teams in the field we will extend the tournament an additional week. In that event none of the scores will count for the week that is affected.

The scoring system is pretty straightforward. It is expected that the teams will play all wetware since that is now the accepted culture. To participate you will be asked to post to scaratings, Badbart, Facebook, or to email IDJT at idjit5500@yahoo.com by midnight May 26, 2019.

As stated last year we are now a very fractured community and BUD and I will probably not be able to get this message to all the teams that may want to participate. So I ask that if you know of a team that might like to participate or a team that you would like to compete against please contact them and let them know about this tournament. We had fifteen teams last year, and BUD and I would like to honor MUDEE with an even larger field this year. We have managed to increase the field every year so far.

The winner of the tournament will receive the red Six Challenge Trophy custom made by MUDEE to hold until we hold the next tournament in 2020. The winner this year will be obligated to forward the trophy to next year's winner. BUD and I will continue to run the tournament ourselves for the foreseeable future so the winner will not be required to administer the tournament next year.

Let's have a great competition and let's have another great tribute to MUDEE.

To clarify a scoring rule: will the site score be based on the top 5 or 6 scores at the site? There was some confusion (at least on my part) on the Showdown tournament.

Top 5 scores that show in the hall of fame. So no unregistered players.
Showdown is the only game that uses 6 scores.

I'm wondering how the Mudee trophy looks with it's new wood base. I'll have to contact Stro in NY.

We appear to have scraped together enough boards for the Mudee Challenge so B-52 in Inver Grove Hts MN is in.

B-52 Burgers and Brew probably has enough players for two groups, but the structure of the group is such that it won't split cleanly.

I've PM'd BUGG, pressing him to form another local group, but he has resisted the notion. So while I had hoped we'd field three entries from St Paul, it now looks as though there'll only be one.

The field as IDJIT's currently posted it isn't very deep, but you can't argue with the quality. Whichever team finishes last in this tournament is likely better than any site that didn't enter.

Here is a picture of the uncompleted trophy, base and name plaque taken this morning. Would have been done sooner, but for some strange reason, none of our local museums were clamoring to display it. Do not fear; Humpty Dumpty will be put together before the tournament ends.

Thanks for the pic, Stro. What are you thinking for mounting the red top piece to the wood base? Drill 2 holes and use screws? or Good double stick tape? Also what are going to get inscribed on the plate, Mad River V, I guess?

Looks like 9 bars in so far with about 2 weeks to go. We could use a few more.

We're missing a bunch from last year. Who needs a reminder that played last time?

I will see my handyman tomorrow, and we'll decide whether screws or adhesive will be a better idea. Per inscription, we were thinking "V Mad River, New York, NY" but on second thought, listing the location may not work for others down the road. Probably won't do the engraving until next week anyway.

If you don't put the city/town, what happens when a BWW wins? Do you omit the location? I don't know what the problem is with including the location.

If you look at the other thread on this site (the MUDEE thread), you'll see that "The Fellowship" has added to its plaques on the McCarthy Cup the slogan "On the level--and awfully freakin' good." If they don't shrink from self-promotion, surely we modest champions at Mad River can list the name of the city where we play. Maybe we could add our slogan: "We don't win games. We just win tournaments."

The bar location would be fine to add I'd say.

No need to have slogans on a Six trophy about or aimed at teams that don't play in the Six tourneys and are only good at one game which isn't Six.
