The name plate is about 1 1/8" high and 3" long. Engraving "V Mad River- New York, NY" is one thing, but engraving "Walsh's Bar and Grille, Westmont IL" or "West Park Station, Cleveland OH" is quite another. Yes, you can engrave bar name, address, city, town, ZIP+4, along with copious inspirational quotes, but no one looking at the trophy is going to be able to read them.

I did speak to my handyman about the trophy, and while he could do the drill or taping routine, he preferred using a few spots of epoxy instead. Would that be OK, or are there any reasons why it wouldn't be?

The epoxy sounds fine to me. It's usually pretty strong.

This is a good example of the "straw man" fallacy. Accusing someone of claiming something they did not claim, and then refuting your false accusation. No one advocated engraving the address, ZIP code, or inspirational quotes. I repeat from my original post: What happens when a BWW wins (and there are several of them in this small field of entrants)? Do you put their city or town next to "BWW?" If so, what's wrong with putting "New York" after "Mad River"? Not enough room?

I would use 2 lines of font for the plaque.

V - Mad River
NY NY - '18

If we should get lucky this year I might put:
VI - BWW
Gaith. MD '19

But unfortunately it will probably read:
VI - Walsh's
Westmont IL '19

Or

VI - West Park
Clev. OH '19

See you all on the boards tonight.

Dueling with pistols tonight at Mad River. Winner gets to engrave the nameplate his way.:)

If I were ever so fortunate to claim that trophy, I'd be so elated that it would never cross my mind to break with precedent.

Is Mad River really Mad, or just Angry? The mention of pistols causes me to shiver with delight.

Yours from IGH MN.

Sure it would be unfortunate to have one of the top 2 teams win it.

Everyone likes an underdog for the upset. The top 2 bars are already on the trophy, new blood is good.

Way to start off big.

(So what did you edit out, was there mention of pistols at dawn)

Good to see GRIFF and BO making an appearance. Too bad Stadium or Ben's didn't get in the Six Challenge. I tried to get ahold of SAKIC but no answer.

BO probably wishes there was an Immortal Words tournament. On Sat. it would have been worth $25.

From Don Denton's website:

Rank Team City SP Week 1 Total Drop 1 Worst Best
1 Walsh's Bar and Grill Westmont IL 63,822 63,822 0 63,822 264,000

14 Beef O'Brady's Prattville AL 37,909 37,909 0 37,909 264,000

Not sure why Don has Kent OH in there. Maybe he knows something we don't. 14 is a better number than 13 anyway.

Early 3600 pt lead for the "Unfortunate Sons".

Edit was only to add your name, in case it was not clear what I was saying/responding to in the thread.

People love dynasties. People love titanic matchups between Chicago and Cleveland!

We just wanted to beat one certain team to piss off one certain player in Six, and accomplished our goal with a whopping two players.

I just listened to GRIFF on IW and then wagged Fiddy Cent on Q10. As far as the upcoming prizes, I don't get out of bed for less than $500. 8-) :D

For those who haven't drawn down Buzztime's results, there were four sites with a 60K cumulative score in the first round. Two of them are *not* entered in this tournament: Stadium Cafe and Ben's Pourhouse.
It's not surprising that BO didn't enter the Stadium Cafe in this tournament. He has no serious help. GRIFF dropped in, but charting GRIFF's travels, if you're so inclined, would be like a bedridden Descartes charting the movements of a fly across the ceiling of his bedroom. BO was wise to ignore the temptation.

Ben's Pourhouse is a tougher read. I need to inform this page from my own experience

At B-52 I had at least six players, possibly ten, lined up to play the first round of the Mudee Memorial Challenge this year. All of them have participated in this tournament in the past. Most of them have my e-mail address. I implored them to notify me whether they would be available on a week-by-week basis. I reserved a table for a minimum of six, the table accommodating 6-12, based on the information they had provided me.

And only five players showed up. None of the 6-7 no-shows notified me.

The Mudee Challenge, much superior to Buzztime's own Six tournament, with its cheesy whiteboard graphics - Buzztime, if you're reading this, don't change the background format from its usual chromatic texture to that silly white background you've been favoring for your tournaments - simply announce that you have a tournament and let your players figure it out - lacks the one feature most major sports have in their favor: draft picks.

The oldsters I hang with most desire, and seemingly cannot collaborate with, a well informed millenial. But at B-52, we've come to a consensus: B-52 takes PANDA in the first round.

Gone, the deal with Ben’s was just a case of being too slow to ask the other players about getting in. Busy life up there with all those Bruins games. Just a little too late now.

Good rundown of the Twin Cities situation, similar to other places I’d say.

I know this was said as a compliment, which is appreciated, but I have stellar teammates. Some examples.

Teamed with JIMMYJ during the first MDM and we were two of the ten finalists in San Diego.

Teamed with DAVE and HELIX during a Blur competition and won a combined $1500 in Amazon gift cards.

Teamed with HELIX for four Dodge Ram truck games, we won two trucks.

Great players and even better friends, have played trivia with those three for a combined 67 years.

My wife Opiee was one of the top 10 finalists for the Dodge Ram, I think the same year Bo won it. So no big win there but we have won lots of Amazon cards from 3 or 4 of the Six tourneys.
Probably several hundred $.

At least 3 or 4 big boxes of Swag has showed up at my house. Also more t shirts and hats then I know what to do with over the years.

I have also won from BT a guided behind the scenes tour to places the public tour doesn't go for the 3 time Super Bowl champs Washington Redskins. I know you all are excited about that. 8-) It was actually very good and we talked with a few players.

Then at both JJ Muldoons then Hardtimes we would get free shots for 1st place finishes. So not from BT but that was at least 200 shots a year for me for 23 years till we had to move to BWW.

Then just a bit won recently with the trivia for cash. Nothing as much as Walsh’s.

So winning stuff is/was very possible.

I ran into EL SID at the Bungalow Inn a couple of weeks ago. He showed me a screenshot of his congratulations from Buzztime for winning $100 on a Countdown quiz he played sometime in late April. So to update BUD's perspective, "is" is still possibly possible.

To say so hurts my little brain.

My apologies. Bruins games definitely cluttering my mind these days  - along with other stuff. Should have confirmed with my Bens' guys and got back to Andy.. will make it a point to do so next time.

Will do our best to make a good showing regardless...

I should have gotten Ed Harris/Needful Things during the matching round, that would have been enough to get us 2nd place.

I had no idea there was even a tournament going on until I saw this thread this week.
If I could predict (or control) my schedule a little better I might have signed up for it, but I haven't played at Timeout since before Easter :(

Good luck to all.
