Unrelated to the (again, inexcusable) glitch, I have to say I loved the German card suits question. As many folks at my bar know, I play a German card game called Skat. My regulars know I go to a couple of tournaments a year and frequently ask about it. Tonight, (since I was done working) TTSQUZ and I were playing six boxes as a team, but it wasn't anything like our team games on Wednesdays. No one was shouting answers; there were several people playing individually. Nonetheless, when that question came up, about ten people shouted, "Shawn!" in unison. I was able to yell, "Karo, schellen or bells," all before the answers came up. Good fun.
Still tanked the game, though.
I've got Hoyle Card Games on my computer, and one of the included games I enjoy playing is Skat. The bidding system is rather onerous (especially since the computer players proceed one possible number at a time), but actually playing the cards and planning out your strategy has a good degree of complexity to it
In your tournaments, is any variety of Ramsch used when no player bids on a hand, or do you just throw 'em in and redeal?
