July's Headliners:

July 5 - Katy Perry
July 12 - Rock Anthems
July 19 - Shania Twain
July 26 - Bob Dylan

OK, well, we've had Katy Perry.....we've had Bob Dylan.......I "think" we've had Shania Twain.......

Todd, where is that list of topics of potential artists/groups NTN never seems to get around to asking about?

From reading the recaps I thought you played Katy Perry every week.

I will start a short list of suggestions.

Deep Purple
Motorhead
Motley Crue
Moody Blues
Red Hot Chili Peppers
The Who
Pink Floyd
Alice Cooper
Cream
Frank Zappa
Greatful Dead
Dire Straits
38 Special
Collective Soul
Creed
The Smiths

All of those have plenty of history to be a headliner, some shorter history than others.

Well, a few of those have already been chosen, The Who, Pink Floyd, Grateful Dead, and RHCP.

Here is a list of 100+ that should be considered. I don't necessarily like all of them, but they certainly ought to have a shot prior to repeating Bob Dylan yet again, and Katy Perry for a 2nd time. I don't remember if Shania Twain was a headliner. but I think she was.

10000 Maniacs, 38 Special, Abba, Allman Brothers, Animals, Arcade Fire, Bangles, Bare Naked Ladies, Pat Benatar, Chuck Berry, Blondie, Blue Oyster Cult, James Brown, Bush, Byrds, Carpenters, Cars, Collective Soul, Commodores/Lionel Richie, Creedence Clearwater, Alice Cooper, Creed, Crosby Stills and Nash, Cure, Deep Purple, Neil Diamond, Doobie Brothers, Duran Duran, Earth Wind and Fire, Electric Light Orchestra, En Vogue, Everclear, Fall Out Boy, Fleetwood Mac, Foreigner, Parliament, Marvin Gaye, J Geils Band, Genesis, Grand Funk Railroad, Grass Roots, Guess Who, George Harrison, Heart, Iron Maiden, Incubus, Isley Brothers, Janes Addiction, Jefferson Airplane/Starship, Joan Jett, Judas Priest, Carole King, Kinks, Kool and the Gang, Korn, Huey Lewis, Linkin Park, Mama and the Papas, Matchbox 20, John Mellencamp, Monkees, Moody Blues, Motley Crue, Muse, My Chemical Romance, Night Ranger, Oasis, Offspring, Ojays, Roy Orbison, Outkast, Tom Petty, Poison, REO Speedwagon, Johnny Rivers, Smokey Robinson/Miracles, Diana Ross/Supremes, Roxette, Roxy Music, Rise Against, Rush, Scorpions, Bob Seger, Carly Simon, Smashing Pumpkins, Smiths, Soundgarden, Dusty Springfield, Steely Dan, Cat Stevens, Stone Temple Pilots, System of a Down, Talking Heads, James Taylor, Thin Lizzy, Three Days Grace, Three Dog Night, Three Doors Down, TLC, Tool, T-Rex, Ike and Tina Turner, War, Weezer, White Zombie, Vanessa Williams, Yes, ZZ Top

I forgot the country list, could easily add 30 of those, with Garth Brooks heading the list.

According to this list, Katy Perry's "Roar" is the 84th best rock anthem of all time :o

As if buzztime needs an additional reason to ask another F_KATY question :x

Okay, I know we all bitch about buzztime a lot -- but it's only because we care about the product and we want it to succeed.

But buzztime also deserves credit when they do something right. And tonight was a step in the right direction for buzztime. Half of the Shania questions were new -- including the Encore question. And that's the first time the Encore question has actually been a new question in about two months. (Even though we partially tanked it, and Fletchers completely tanked it. The bash would've edged out both locations anyway even if we had both hit it cleanly). The Encore question should *always* be a new question, so at least buzztime finally got that part of the game right again.

But before buzztime pats itself on the back, I do want to stress that this was merely progress. You improved from about an F or a D- up to a C- tonight. We'd all like you to get an A grade every week. But we understand an overnight jump from an F to an A is unrealistic. I do give buzztime credit for improving, but don't stop there. Hopefully next about 50% - 75% of the Bob Dylan questions will be all new questions. And then the following month hopefully you'll have all new Headliners with all new questions. Keep heading in the right direction, please!
