1980s
1990s
2000s

Please, Buzztime, give me the 1980s!

(Seriously, I'll also be OK with the 1990s. 2000s are iffy, but I can manage.)

^That's my guess. Technically (and if this was MLB there'd be a big * here  ), the 1980s and the 2000s haven't been used yet. "1980s Pop" and "Music Of The 2000s" have been used as headliners.

1950s / 1960s / 1970s / 1990s have all been used as headliners.

I wouldn't be all that surprised if 1990s got the call. It's such a broad category that they could use that one at least a dozen times (much like Lead Singers, etc).

But I'm still expecting 1980s.

Since we are going to Sox Park for "Rat Pack Night" it will be the 1980s. If we were playing, it would be the 2000s.

I play under BGTUNA and we kinda cruise around. Our home location is Michael Anthony's, but we have played a lot lately at Harry's in Countryside and Mister Mo's in Palos.

Headliner: 1990s [this is the first time since new Playback debuted that a Headliner has actually been selected twice]

(paraphrased, as usual)

Q1: _Jar Of Flies_ is a 1994 album by: (ALICE IN CHAINS)

Q2: "Mary Jane's Last _______" is a 1994 song by Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers (DANCE)

Q3: "Set Adrift On Memory Bliss" was a 1991 hit for: (P.M. DAWN)

Q4: Which of these is a 1996 album by Snoop Dogg? (THA DOGGFATHER)

[His 1993 album, _Doggystyle,_ was also a choice]

Q5: His 1993 hit, "What's It To You," was the first of five straight country #1 hits for: (CLAY WALKER)

Q6: The 1998 hit "Too Close" was by: (NEXT)

Q7: Hit by Los Del Rio: (MACARENA)

Q8: Who sang vocals on the Santana song "Maria Maria" (WYCLEF JEAN)

[I thought this was a lame question. For one thing, it didn't really fit the 1990s as the song debuted on Hot 100 in February 2000. Although one could argue that the album was released in July 1999 and therfore, any question from that album is fair game. For another, it's actually The Product G&B that sings the vocals on the song. Wyclef Jean isn't even officially credited on the song. He just sings background vocals]

Q9: In 1999, which of these artists sold 660,000 copies of their album in its first week of release? (RICKY MARTIN)

Q10: All of these songs were nominated for Record Of The Year for the 1997 Grammy Awards except: (I Believe I Can Fly / Sunny Came Home / MMMBop / WANNABE / Everyday Is A Winding Road)

Encore Question:

Q: Shawn Mullins Sings About A Melancholy Young Lady Living In L.A. On This Hit Song:

1. Lullaby
2. Slide
3. Time Of Your Life
4. Butterfly
5. My Baby

Answer: (LULLABY)

[While this question is perfectly fine, it's been asked in the Encore at least three or four times now during the past 10 years. I could only imagine what the reaction on the forum would be like if buzztime did that for Showdown. Gotta use new material here. 1990s is an extremely broad category...it shouldn't have repeat material]

That game was bloody hard. Easily gave me my worst score in any Premium Game ever.

Wish I had seen that final question as an encore. Was a bit fat -50% for me. :(

I hear ya on repeat questions. On the Maria Maria question, it should said background vocal insteal of plain vocal.

I will play next week since I ease on doing DJ just every two weeks instead of every week.

They also had an error earlier in the game. Q was "Which of these songs is based on a Bach melody?" (Paraphrased).

Amongst the choices were "Whiter Shade Of Pale" and "Lover's Concerto", both of which are correct according to my post-game research. Naturally, I chose the correct answer that was NOT the one they wanted...

A little help in the accuracy department, Red? :)

Found it -- Encore from August 5, 2006:

ENCORE ROUND:

The choices of answers:

1. Give It Away
2. Mr. Jones
3. Lullaby
4. Everybody Hurts
5. Smells Like Teen Spirit

QUESTION: L.A. is described as "Nashville with a tan" on this 1990's song.

ANSWER: "LULLABY"

FACTOID: The Shawn Mullins single makes references to Bob Seger and Sonny & Cher.

And here's one that will really make you

Encore from August 7, 2004:

ENCORE:
Shawn Mullins sings about a melancholy young lady living in L.A. on this 1990's hit:
1. LULLABY
2. Slide
3. Time of Your Life
4. Butterfly
5. My Baby
