The Headliner for October 2 will be one of the following:

* Steely Dan
* Chicago
* Hall & Oates

I can handle Chicago or Hall and Oates

I am thrilled with these choices! Love me some Steely Dan and Hall + Oates! Chicago is not bad either.

My wife loves Steely Dan, I love Chicago, and we can live with Hall and Oates. If I remember correctly, Chicago was a bridesmaid once, but I think this is the first appearance for Hall and Oates and Steely Dan.

Would anyone else familiar with the origin of the band's name care to handle this one?
I can't decide which one of the literally dozens of high quality responses I like best for this one. :mrgreen:

And its Getaways by 0.07% over that team from the North.. Bet the Judy Garland question won the game for you :) Didn't know she even had her own TV show...

:lol: We definitely took -250 all around on that one.

IMO, buzztime couldn't have made that Headliner round any easier this week without compromising the integrity of what constitutes as premium game trivia....and even at that, the only three locations that ran that round were you, us & Fletchers.

That's all the more reason why there shouldn't be this goofy pyramid scoring in this round. I still contend the scoring of this round should be something Showdown-like, in the sense that 10/10 should be 15000, 9/10 should be 12000, 8/10 should be 10000, 7/10 should be 8000, 6/10 should be 6000, 5/10 should be 5000, and so on...

Under that method, there still would've been a photo finish at the top this week. But the 4th place scores and downward would've tightened considerably towards the top scores instead of appearing to be light years away from the leaders.

And they still use wording of questions that baffles my mind. I would argue that the question where the answer was "Tavares" wasn't really a Hall and Oates question, but a Tavares question.

Incidentally, on our way home, the 70s channel on XM played a Tavares song. Had I heard that on the way in...

Poman...thanks for clearing that up for me. I was one of the 4th place bar players and didn't know enough about scoring to realize that just missing the 3rd (maybe 3rd?) question in the Headliner round is what put us so far back. And I agree that the questions were super-easy for a premium game.
