2000s country is pretty much what late 80s/early 90s pop used to be....not that much of a difference.

Wow...quite a dilemma. I'll be out of town this weekend, so I would have to make a special trip to play and I was waiting for the topics to decide.

I would CRUSH on nerd rock. My iPod is full of nerd rock. I have the full discography of TMBG, BNL, Ben Folds, Weird Al...gosh, that would be a fun topic.

I would be quite terrible on the other two topics, unless they recycle the R+B questions from 1/21 Topix (which I didn't know the first time around).

If I don't know what nerd rock is, does that mean I'm not a nerd?

While you might not qualify for nerd status, you could still be a geek, dweeb or spazz

"We should have stayed home and watched the Weather Channel." - The Mrs.

The only question we got right in that last round was the Devo question. This marks 4 consecutive weeks of getting the last question wrong. Tell me again why I do this to myself? :?

Because you like being tortured...

Based on the scores, it really sucked. Glad I stayed home and didn't try to play,

This was probably my second lowest score ever. Yeah, there is probably some accuracy to wanting to be tortured, but I was hoping it would be by Debra Messing in a pair of thigh-high boots. ;)

The Encore question was obviously way too difficult for most of the network. That song hit the top 5 on the alternative chart. But just about anytime buzztime asks a question about a song that only peaked in the top 5 on the alternative chart, country chart, Triple A chart, etc (and didn't crossover to the Hot 100), it causes most players to react like a SoCal driver in rain.

It's a fair question. But if buzztime is going to ask a question that sinks 90% - 95% of the network, is it worth it? If we're playing Jeopardy (or Rock And Roll Jeopardy...the only time I've ever watched Jeff Probst  ), then that question is absolutely fair for the final question. But when your product depends on repeat customers, is it wise to piss off 90% - 95% of your customers? The Encore question should be challenging, but fair. Asking a question that takes everybody down is probably not a good idea.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. It's awesome when the PB redesign that nobody asked for results in four locations garnering half the possible points in a premium game.

You are 100% correct. I don't think anyone is asking for a give away question for the last question, it should challenge people, but the last few weeks we have had to make a shot in the dark guess. Saturday nights are and have been our date nights since before we were married and Playback has been a HUGE part of it. We would often go out with friends who have the same trivia playing interests as we do, in fact, some we met playing the game. But some of the people we would go out with on a Saturday night to play have decided not to play Playback anymore because of the difficulty of the game and the (in our opinions) dumb category choices. Full disclosure, we are all over 40 and most of our musical tastes fall into the "classic rock" category, but we do have other interests as well.

If they can have "Nerd Rock", why haven't they had "Prog Rock"? Where are the questions about King Crimson? Where are the promise questions about Zamphir? :P

I guess it goes back to an earlier question. What is the demographic that Buzztime is looking for? Maybe we need to start renting movies on Saturday nights.

I forgot to write down the question, but it was something like...

They Might Be Giants' "Birdhouse In Your Soul" is a song about a __________:

1. Radio
2. Kite
3. Toy Car
4. Nightlight
5. Stuffed Animal

A: (Nightlight)

Nice question. Wish they allow non-San Diego residents to write questions. That way I can write better n less confusing yet challenging questions. Poman, Wish I did wrote that question.

Wow. I didn't get a chance to play, but I am a huge TMBG fan and had no idea what that song is about. I didn't think many of their songs were about anything in particular.
