I would like to put together a Brainbuster competition to honor Tim/DINGO's memory. It would be conducted in a month with five Tuesdays with the four highest scores per location counting (thus at least ameliorating the impact of any technical issues on a particular night). Wetware only; otherwise no limitations. West zone teams may participate if they promise not to take advantage of the earlier feed.

I'll come up with a trophy, and will also contact NTN/BT to see if they want to do what they're doing with Sci-Files in terms of offering swag for team members and publicizing the tournament at the participating locations via a screen.

Would appreciate feedback on whether your team would be interested in participating and which month would be best. I'm eliminating December because one of the Tuesdays would be Christmas Eve, but that still leaves April, July, and October. My preference would be to go ahead and do it in April, but if there's a reason to hold it later rather than earlier, I'm amenable to the other options.

This is how tournies should be done, not excluding a certain portion of the playing public.

I'll check in with my teammates in Albuquerque to confirm, but my guess is the (formerly) Coaches Crewe will participate (now playing out of Fox and Hound). Regarding months, I'd say April. As this is a Brainbusters competition, overlap with the McCarthy Cup wouldn't be big deal.

This is a great idea. I'm sure The Fellowship at Stringz and Wingz will want to be in, and April will be great. Thanks for putting this together, Brooke.

We'll give it a (poor) shot at Time Out. Thanks.

Thanks for all the responses. We're just working on the month now. Apparently the Houston rep is on maternity leave, and the rep for the rest of Texas has offered to help out, but I don't want to force things for April if that will cause problems for anyone.

Weirdly it turns out that an outfit named "Aardvark" does trophies locally in Houston, but sadly I don't see anything I think would be appropriate from them re: their Internet catalog. I do want to make the trophy something that Tim would be proud to see his name on.

Do you mind if I sign Meriden AOH up? They play every Tuesday but nobody is on this site. Gives us at the Mill some local competition.

I checked with the team tonight, and (as I expected) they are in and think April will be fine.

It has been confirmed with the team. Count Fox & Hound officially in.

We are officially set for April--the tournament will begin on Tuesday, April 2, 2013, and end Tuesday, April 30, 2013. The deadline for signing up is Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at noon CDT.

Question was previously asked re: it's okay to sign up another team (specifically Meriden AOH). I don't have a problem with it as long as the one signing the team up is sure the other team is wetware only and doesn't misuse the East zone feed; in fact I'm thinking about doing that to Coaches Pub and then just letting them know I did to encourage the folks that show up there for the Showdown cash prize competition to stay around.

Teams can sign up through this thread, via BadBart, or by sending me a PM via Scaratings or Facebook; as this forum is available to the general public, I don't want to put my email out, but BadBart participants can get it through there. At some point I will need to get contact information from whoever is the point person for the team.

So, get your team together and gear up for April!

Query--Do "guest" boxes count in the results?

(Or, put differently--do we go by the posted network rankings at the end of the game, or by the HOF postings the next day?)

Mad River would enjoy playing this. BTW, we thought a question was off tonight (March 12). Mantegna the artist definitely worked for the Duke of Mantua, but the "correct" answer was Rubens. We thought maybe both were correct--a common Buzztime error.

Please add the Blue Goose in Sharonville, Ohio to the roster.

(I tried to sign up on the other thread you created for that purpose, but I guess no-one noticed.)

Thanks for the heads-up email from ANON. I'll ask the rest of the 8th Street Grill team tonight, but I think it's a safe bet that we'll participate. Now I just need to get people to stick around after Showdown ends...

In fact, go ahead and sign us up - if I find out tonight that everyone's out of town next month or somehow against it (as an act of protest over Tubby Smith's firing perhaps), I'll let you know.

Thanks.
