Although the Tim (DINGO) Richardson Memorial Cup has had a shorter history than some other tournaments, it has always been long on excitement. Every year has witnessed extremely close competition throughout, with one or more lead changes over the course of the tournament. This year was no exception. Two weeks ago, Teaser's in Chicago claimed the lead, and then last week saw The Fellowship clinging to a desperately-tiny margin of 47 points over Teaser's, with several other teams within striking distance.

So here are this week's results:

13064 The Fellowship, Kent OH
12226 Houlihan's-Westbury NY
11897 Big Guys, Winnipeg MB
11780 Danny K's, Orange CA
11199 BWW-Albuquerque NM
11010 BWW-Arlington VA
10809 Teaser's, Chicago IL
10582 Four Corners, Chapel Hill NC
10436 BWW-Kalamazoo MI
10325 Stadium Cafe, Addison TX
10083 Henry Hudson's, Oklahoma City OK
9439 Parlay Sports, Tallahassee FL
9145 New Edinburgh Pub/Moose McGuires, Ottawa ON
8901 Cedar Cottage, Vancouver BC
8839 Bilmar Station, Tampa FL
8813 Old Barn, Portland OR
8639 Broadway Bar and Grill, Nepean ON
8207 Mad River, New York NY
8171 BWW-Bloomingdale IL
8052 BWW-Columbia, MD
8042 Adams Mill, Manchester CT
7830 Pineapple Hill Grill, Tustin CA
7545 Hokie House, Blacksburg VA
6490 West Park Station, Cleveland OH

Clearly, The Fellowship picked a good night to have its best game of the tournament. Adding these scores to the others gives the following five-week totals:

60,343 The Fellowship, Kent OH
57,363 BWW-Arlington VA
56,650 Teaser's, Chicago IL
56,110 Big Guys, Winnipeg MB
55,696 Houlihan's-Westbury NY
54,836 BWW-Albuquerque NM
54,693 Danny K's, Orange CA
51,233 Parlay Sports, Tallahassee FL
50,697 Bilmar Station, Tampa FL
50,153 BWW-Kalamazoo MI
49,430 Henry Hudson's, Oklahoma City OK
48,950 Mad River, New York NY
48,747 BWW-Columbia, MD
48,671 Four Corners, Chapel Hill NC
48,455 New Edinburgh Pub/Moose McGuires, Ottawa ON
45,199 West Park Station, Cleveland OH
45,111 BWW-Bloomingdale IL
45,055 Old Barn, Portland OR
44,803 Adams Mill, Manchester CT
44,679 Broadway Bar and Grill, Nepean ON
39,283 Stadium Cafe, Addison TX
38,995 Cedar Cottage, Vancouver BC
36,409 Hokie House, Blacksburg VA
33,144 Pineapple Hill Grill, Tustin CA

Although this makes it look like defending champion BWW-Arlington seized the silver medal, it was a bit too consistent over the course of the tournament for its own good. All of its scores were within about 1,000 points of each other, which means that dropping one did not do it much good. When we drop low scores, then, these are the final standings:

49557 The Fellowship, Kent OH
47255 Teaser's, Chicago IL
46383 Big Guys, Winnipeg MB
46353 BWW-Arlington VA
45734 Houlihan's/BWW-Westbury NY
44889 Danny K's, Orange CA
44664 BWW-Albuquerque NM
42148 Parlay Sports, Tallahassee FL
41858 Bilmar Station, Tampa FL
40999 BWW-Kalamazoo MI
40743 Mad River, New York NY
40695 BWW-Columbia, MD
40692 Henry Hudson's, Oklahoma City OK
39568 Four Corners, Chapel Hill NC
39310 New Edinburgh Pub/Moose McGuires, Ottawa ON
39283 Stadium Cafe, Addison TX
38709 West Park Station, Cleveland OH
37613 Broadway Bar and Grill, Nepean ON
37171 BWW-Bloomingdale IL
36761 Adams Mill, Manchester CT
36511 Old Barn, Portland OR
34172 Hokie House, Blacksburg VA
32277 Cedar Cottage, Vancouver BC
28487 Pineapple Hill Grill, Tustin CA

Teaser's overcame a sub-par night to claim the silver medal, and Big Guy's put up a heroic effort to nose BWW-Arlington out for the bronze medal by a mere 30 points--a minuscule fraction of a percent of the total points scored.

So The Fellowship reclaims the Cup this year, followed by Teaser's with the silver, and Big Guys with the bronze. BWW-Arlington and the team FKA Houlihan's-Westbury round out the top five. Congrats to all of them: to place among the top spots in a grueling, multi-week tournament in what is arguably Buzztime's hardest game is quite an accomplishment and shows some serious trivia chops. Special commendation must go to the Westbury crew, who did so well despite finding out this week that Houlihan's dropped trivia, and having to adjourn to a nearby BWW to finish the tournament.

Before wrapping things up for another year, I need to thank a number of people. First, I would like to thank the team at BWW-Arlington for graciously entrusting the commissionership of the tournament to me this year. It was an honor.

Second, I want to thank each and every team that participated in this year's tournament. As mentioned earlier, this is arguably Buzztime's most challenging game, and you have proved yourselves to be among the best of the best at it, week in and week out. I sincerely hope you will sign up for the fifth edition of the tournament next April.

Third: Although few of them check into these boards, I want to express my sincerest thanks to everyone who played at BWW-Kent during the tournament. We had people who have been playing with us for a dozen years, some who just joined us for the last few weeks, and everyone in between. It has been a privilege to play with such a bunch of smart and funny people, and I continue to be in awe of all of my teammates--new, old, and visiting. Thanks again for being so good and so fun.

Last, but certainly not least, I would like to make a special note of remembrance to the person who is the reason for the trophy: Tim (DINGO) Richardson. His presence in the trivia forums is still deeply missed, and I would like to think he would approve of all of us remembering him in this way every year. There is a rumor that next Tuesday Buzztime will have a screen announcing this year's winners. If you feel so inclined, please raise a glass to Tim when it comes up so he can have a continent-wide toast.

So that officially wraps up this year's tournament. Thanks again to all who participated, and we hope to see you next year.
