With April rolling around, it is time once again to compete in the Brainbuster Tournament created in honor of Tim Richardson (also known to long-time denizens of the trivia forums as DINGO and TLEARY).

The tournament will be structured similarly to all the previous editions: It will run for five games (starting on April 2 and running until April 30 this year). Each participating team's final score will be calculated as the cumulative HOF score of their four best performances in those games (in other words, each team gets to drop a low score, which will also ameliorate the impact of any technical or other issues on a particular night). The highest score thus calculated wins, and that team will get the trophy for a year and be required to run the tournament next April.

RULES: Teams must use assembled brainpower only. No computers and no references of any kind during gameplay, either paper or electronic (or telecommunication from outside the location). Using the Buzztime Playmaker app on electronic devices such as iPhones, iPads, or Droid phones is fine, as long as this is the only purpose for which the device is being used, and it is being used in and for the location of the team. Any team that pledges to abide by these rules is welcome to sign up.

As the tournament starts on April 2, signup will run from now until midnight on April 1. Please sign up either on this thread, or on BadBart, or by contacting me by PM or email.

This has been a pretty competitive tournament in years past--no team has ever led wire-to-wire, and it has always been decided on the last week of the tournament. I hope you will consider entering your team, and good skill to all.

The Fellowship (Red Fox Grille, Cuyahoga Falls, OH) is in.

The field for the DINGO Cup acquitted itself admirably in the first week of the tournament: All of the top 7, 8 of the top 10, and 14 of the top 20 were tournament teams. At the top, by a wide margin, was former champion BWW-Crystal City, with just a few hundred points separating the next four teams:

14,605 BWW-Crystal City, VA
13,932 Red Fox Grille (Cuyahoga Falls, OH)
13,761 Tipsy Coyote (Scottsdale, AZ)
13,451 Pockets Pool and Pub (Tallahassee, FL)
13,404 Teaser's (Chicago, IL)
12,903 Stained Glass Pub (Elkridge, MD)
12,364 Mad River (New York, NY)
12,024 BWW-Oklahoma City (OK)
11,994 Time Out West (Hanover Park, IL)
11,990 Buster's Bar (Ottawa, ON)
11,900 Danny K's (Orange, CA)
11,762 Wallaby's (Lenexa, KS)
11,656 Big Guys (Winnipeg, MB)
11,599 Stadium Cafe (Addison, TX)
11,307 West Park Station (Cleveland, OH)
11,212 Houlihan's-Westbury, NY
11,040 K.C.'s Time Out (Evansville, IN)
10,826 The Ragged Rascals (BWW-Iliff, NM)
10,468 K-zoo Krew, BWW-Kalamazoo, MI
9,372 Adam's Mill (Manchester, CT)
9,186 Cedar Cottage (Vancouver, BC)
7,630 Pineapple Hill Grill (Tustin, CA)
0 BWW-Blacksburg, VA
0 BWW-Metairie, LA

My contact at BWW-Blacksburg informs me that the goose-egg is legitimate: it's a small team, and when a couple of them couldn't make it, the rest decided to take the night off. I'm not what sure what happened with BWW-Metairie, queried the contact person there. It is a tablet location, but it showed no playership even for Countdown on April 2. Unless I hear that they played at another location, I'm going to assume this will be their dropped score.

Good skill to all this week!

Before presenting this week's standings, I'd like to start with an apology and an announcement.

First, an apology to K.C.'s Time Out in Evansville, IN. CONDOR quite tactfully reminded me this week that he had sent an email to me joining the tournament before the tournament began, but noted that I had neglected to include them in the final field. He was absolutely right, and I apologize for omitting them from the field and the Week 1 standings. I have rectified the postings above, and they are now on the spreadsheet. I apologize to them for my error.

Second, the folks who signed up for BWW-Metairie announced on BadBart(FB) that they were having difficulty finding a place to accommodate their team, so they have returned to BWW-Elmwood, even though it had only 8 tablets for 10 players this week (other locations had system crashes or had units that failed to record scores mid-game). Unless I hear otherwise from them, I'm going to assume they will be there for the duration of the tournament.

With those out of the way, on to the standings:

As great as the DINGO field did last week, they did even better this week. DINGO teams occupied every single one of the top 11 spots, and 17 of the top 20. Here are this week's scores:

14706 Red Fox Grille (Cuyahoga Falls, OH)
13937 Danny K's (Orange, CA)
13701 BWW-Crystal City, VA
13525 K-zoo Krew, BWW-Kalamazoo, MI
13130 Mad River (New York, NY)
13066 BWW-Oklahoma City (OK)
12950 Buster's Bar (Ottawa, ON)
12908 Pockets Pool and Pub (Tallahassee, FL)
12658 The Ragged Rascals (BWW-Iliff, NM)
12619 BWW-Blacksburg, VA
12526 Teaser's (Chicago, IL)
12127 Pineapple Hill Grill (Tustin, CA)
12124 Tipsy Coyote (Scottsdale, AZ)
12111 Stained Glass Pub (Elkridge, MD)
11826 Big Guys (Winnipeg, MB)
11672 Houlihan's-Westbury, NY
11626 Wallaby's (Lenexa, KS)
11113 West Park Station (Cleveland, OH)
10564 Adam's Mill (Manchester, CT)
10488 K.C.'s Time Out,
10377 Time Out West (Hanover Park, IL)
9742 Stadium Cafe (Addison, TX)
9635 Cedar Cottage (Vancouver, BC)
8456 BWW-Elmwood, LA

Adding these to last week's, the cumulative score standings are:

28638 Red Fox Grille (Cuyahoga Falls, OH)
28306 BWW-Crystal City, VA
26359 Pockets Pool and Pub (Tallahassee, FL)
25930 Teaser's (Chicago, IL)
25885 Tipsy Coyote (Scottsdale, AZ)
25837 Danny K's (Orange, CA)
25494 Mad River (New York, NY)
25090 BWW-Oklahoma City (OK)
25014 Stained Glass Pub (Elkridge, MD)
24940 Buster's Bar (Ottawa, ON)
23993 K-zoo Krew, BWW-Kalamazoo, MI
23484 The Ragged Rascals (BWW-Iliff, NM)
23482 Big Guys (Winnipeg, MB)
23388 Wallaby's (Lenexa, KS)
22884 Houlihan's-Westbury, NY
22420 West Park Station (Cleveland, OH)
22371 Time Out West (Hanover Park, IL)
21528 K.C.'s Time Out,
21341 Stadium Cafe (Addison, TX)
19936 Adam's Mill (Manchester, CT)
19757 Pineapple Hill Grill (Tustin, CA)
18821 Cedar Cottage (Vancouver, BC)
12619 BWW-Blacksburg, VA
8456 BWW-Elmwood, LA

So The Fellowship moves ahead of BWW-Crystal City in week two, but the margin is deceptive. After all, everyone gets to drop a low score, and when we do that, it becomes a pretty tight race:

14706 Red Fox Grille (Cuyahoga Falls, OH)
14605 BWW-Crystal City, VA
13937 Danny K's (Orange, CA)
13761 Tipsy Coyote (Scottsdale, AZ)
13525 K-zoo Krew, BWW-Kalamazoo, MI
13451 Pockets Pool and Pub (Tallahassee, FL)
13404 Teaser's (Chicago, IL)
13130 Mad River (New York, NY)
13066 BWW-Oklahoma City (OK)
12950 Buster's Bar (Ottawa, ON)
12903 Stained Glass Pub (Elkridge, MD)
12658 The Ragged Rascals (BWW-Iliff, NM)
12619 BWW-Blacksburg, VA
12127 Pineapple Hill Grill (Tustin, CA)
11994 Time Out West (Hanover Park, IL)
11826 Big Guys (Winnipeg, MB)
11762 Wallaby's (Lenexa, KS)
11672 Houlihan's-Westbury, NY
11599 Stadium Cafe (Addison, TX)
11307 West Park Station (Cleveland, OH)
11040 K.C.'s Time Out (Evansville, IN)
10564 Adam's Mill (Manchester, CT)
9635 Cedar Cottage (Vancouver, BC)
8456 BWW-Elmwood, LA

So all of 101 points separates #1 and #2, and the next nine teams are within about 1,000 points of each other, with three weeks to go.

Good skill to all this week!

Per one of our teammates, Stadium Cafe has been down for several days, so we moved to BWW Addison for tonight's game. We are used to the blue boxes, and that's what I'm blaming our crappy score on!

Thanks for the heads-up, I'll calculate accordingly. And yes, the tablets took some getting used to--we actually begged the management at BWW-Kent to hold off getting them as long as he could.

We have reached the mid-way point of the tournament, and the jockeying for position has intensified. Here are last night's results:

14435 Red Fox Grille (Cuyahoga Falls, OH)
14137 Teaser's (Chicago, IL)
13880 BWW-Oklahoma City (OK)
13538 BWW-Crystal City, VA
13271 Stained Glass Pub (Elkridge, MD)
13182 Big Guys (Winnipeg, MB)
13027 Tipsy Coyote (Scottsdale, AZ)
12862 Pineapple Hill Grill (Tustin, CA)
12615 Danny K's (Orange, CA)
12484 Pockets Pool and Pub (Tallahassee, FL)
12301 BWW-Blacksburg, VA
12162 Wallaby's (Lenexa, KS)
12134 The Ragged Rascals (BWW-Iliff, NM)
12096 Time Out West (Hanover Park, IL)
12025 Mad River (New York, NY)
12001 K-zoo Krew, BWW-Kalamazoo, MI
11937 West Park Station (Cleveland, OH)
11919 Buster's Bar (Ottawa, ON)
10816 Houlihan's-Westbury, NY
10781 BWW-Elmwood, LA
10632 Stadium Cafe (Addison, TX)
10314 Adam's Mill (Manchester, CT)
7751 K.C.'s Time Out (Evansville, IN)
1389 Cedar Cottage (Vancouver, BC)

Addling these to the existing scores gives the following cumulative rankings:

43073 Red Fox Grille (Cuyahoga Falls, OH)
41844 BWW-Crystal City, VA
40067 Teaser's (Chicago, IL)
38970 BWW-Oklahoma City (OK)
38912 Tipsy Coyote (Scottsdale, AZ)
38843 Pockets Pool and Pub (Tallahassee, FL)
38452 Danny K's (Orange, CA)
38285 Stained Glass Pub (Elkridge, MD)
37519 Mad River (New York, NY)
36859 Buster's Bar (Ottawa, ON)
36664 Big Guys (Winnipeg, MB)
35994 K-zoo Krew, BWW-Kalamazoo, MI
35618 The Ragged Rascals (BWW-Iliff, NM)
35550 Wallaby's (Lenexa, KS)
34467 Time Out West (Hanover Park, IL)
34357 West Park Station (Cleveland, OH)
33700 Houlihan's-Westbury, NY
32619 Pineapple Hill Grill (Tustin, CA)
31973 Stadium Cafe (Addison, TX)
30250 Adam's Mill (Manchester, CT)
29279 K.C.'s Time Out (Evansville, IN)
24920 BWW-Blacksburg, VA
20210 Cedar Cottage (Vancouver, BC)
19237 BWW-Elmwood, LA

While it may look like The Fellowship at Red Fox is running away with it, that is not really the case. Once we drop low scores, the race tightens considerably, and BWW-Crystal City is within easy striking distance--pretty much a single question--from the top spot. Congrats to BWW-Oklahoma City, which has made a big move up five places into the top four this week. The five teams in positions 4-8 are all within 800 points of each other, so it looks to be quite competitive down the stretch:

29141 Red Fox Grille (Cuyahoga Falls, OH)
28306 BWW-Crystal City, VA
27541 Teaser's (Chicago, IL)
26946 BWW-Oklahoma City (OK)
26788 Tipsy Coyote (Scottsdale, AZ)
26552 Danny K's (Orange, CA)
26359 Pockets Pool and Pub (Tallahassee, FL)
26174 Stained Glass Pub (Elkridge, MD)
25526 K-zoo Krew, BWW-Kalamazoo, MI
25494 Mad River (New York, NY)
25008 Big Guys (Winnipeg, MB)
24989 Pineapple Hill Grill (Tustin, CA)
24940 Buster's Bar (Ottawa, ON)
24920 BWW-Blacksburg, VA
24792 The Ragged Rascals (BWW-Iliff, NM)
24090 Time Out West (Hanover Park, IL)
23924 Wallaby's (Lenexa, KS)
23244 West Park Station (Cleveland, OH)
22884 Houlihan's-Westbury, NY
22231 Stadium Cafe (Addison, TX)
21528 K.C.'s Time Out (Evansville, IN)
20878 Adam's Mill (Manchester, CT)
19237 BWW-Elmwood, LA
18821 Cedar Cottage (Vancouver, BC)

So with two weeks to go, nothing is near settled. Good skill to all this week!

If there was any consolation for The Fellowship in the wake of its second consecutive beat-down by BWW-Crystal City in the McCarthy Cup finals, it was that at least the team managed to post a great score in the preceding Brainbuster game. It was only after Buzztime posted the HOF today, though, that the magnitude of that score in the DINGO Cup standings became apparent. While The Fellowshippers lost one tournament decisively yesterday, it appears they won another one decisively on the same night.

The previous six editions of the Tim DINGO Richardson Memorial Brainbuster Cup have been intensely competitive affairs: no team ever led the standings wire-to-wire, and the winner was always decided on the last night of the tournament. While the first condition still obtains after edition number seven, the second apparently does not.

First, this week's scores:

14,922 Red Fox Grille (Cuyahoga Falls, OH)
13,857 Danny K's (Orange, CA)
13,331 Mad River (New York, NY)
13,239 BWW-Crystal City, VA
13,057 Time Out West (Hanover Park, IL)
13,051 Tipsy Coyote (Scottsdale, AZ)
12,755 BWW-Oklahoma City (OK)
12,512 K-zoo Krew, BWW-Kalamazoo, MI
12,250 Big Guys (Winnipeg, MB)
12,169 Buster's Bar (Ottawa, ON)
11,957 The Ragged Rascals (BWW-Iliff, NM)
11,751 Pockets Pool and Pub (Tallahassee, FL)
11,751 Teaser's (Chicago, IL)
11,681 Wallaby's (Lenexa, KS)
11,421 Pineapple Hill Grill (Tustin, CA)
11,051 BWW-Elmwood, LA
10,425 BWW-Blacksburg, VA
9,931 Stained Glass Pub (Elkridge, MD)
9,832 Adam's Mill (Manchester, CT)
9,307 Stadium Cafe (Addison, TX)
7,591 Houlihan's-Westbury, NY
7,529 K.C.'s Time Out (Evansville, IN)
7,522 West Park Station (Cleveland, OH)
0 Cedar Cottage (Vancouver, BC)

Adding these scores to the previous ones gives the following cumulative results:

57995 Red Fox Grille (Cuyahoga Falls, OH)
55083 BWW-Crystal City, VA
52309 Danny K's (Orange, CA)
51963 Tipsy Coyote (Scottsdale, AZ)
51818 Teaser's (Chicago, IL)
51725 BWW-Oklahoma City (OK)
50850 Mad River (New York, NY)
50594 Pockets Pool and Pub (Tallahassee, FL)
49028 Buster's Bar (Ottawa, ON)
48914 Big Guys (Winnipeg, MB)
48506 K-zoo Krew, BWW-Kalamazoo, MI
48216 Stained Glass Pub (Elkridge, MD)
47575 The Ragged Rascals (BWW-Iliff, NM)
47524 Time Out West (Hanover Park, IL)
47231 Wallaby's (Lenexa, KS)
44040 Pineapple Hill Grill (Tustin, CA)
41879 West Park Station (Cleveland, OH)
41291 Houlihan's-Westbury, NY
41280 Stadium Cafe (Addison, TX)
40082 Adam's Mill (Manchester, CT)
36808 K.C.'s Time Out (Evansville, IN)
35345 BWW-Blacksburg, VA
30288 BWW-Elmwood, LA
20210 Cedar Cottage (Vancouver, BC)

Although you can usually take these totals with a grain of salt because they don't drop low scores, these numbers mean more than usual this week, because they represent the bare minimum that each team can score for the tournament--even if they post a zero next week, they are still guaranteed this score. Although The Fellowship looks to be just shy of a 3,000-point lead here, it is not quite that big. After dropping low scores, this is where the field stands:

44063 Red Fox Grille (Cuyahoga Falls, OH)
41844 BWW-Crystal City, VA
40409 Danny K's (Orange, CA)
40067 Teaser's (Chicago, IL)
39839 Tipsy Coyote (Scottsdale, AZ)
39701 BWW-Oklahoma City (OK)
38843 Pockets Pool and Pub (Tallahassee, FL)
38825 Mad River (New York, NY)
38285 Stained Glass Pub (Elkridge, MD)
38038 K-zoo Krew, BWW-Kalamazoo, MI
37258 Big Guys (Winnipeg, MB)
37147 Time Out West (Hanover Park, IL)
37109 Buster's Bar (Ottawa, ON)
36749 The Ragged Rascals (BWW-Iliff, NM)
36410 Pineapple Hill Grill (Tustin, CA)
35605 Wallaby's (Lenexa, KS)
35345 BWW-Blacksburg, VA
34357 West Park Station (Cleveland, OH)
33700 Houlihan's-Westbury, NY
31973 Stadium Cafe (Addison, TX)
30710 Adam's Mill (Manchester, CT)
30288 BWW-Elmwood, LA
29279 K.C.'s Time Out (Evansville, IN)
20210 Cedar Cottage (Vancouver, BC)

Yet it appears that The Fellowship's somewhat smaller lead will still be enough. If you add 15,000 points to these scores, you get the maximum possible points any team can score for the tournament, assuming a perfect game this coming Tuesday. Here are those numbers:

59063 Red Fox Grille (Cuyahoga Falls, OH)
56844 BWW-Crystal City, VA
55409 Danny K's (Orange, CA)
55067 Teaser's (Chicago, IL)
54839 Tipsy Coyote (Scottsdale, AZ)
54701 BWW-Oklahoma City (OK)
53843 Pockets Pool and Pub (Tallahassee, FL)
53825 Mad River (New York, NY)
53285 Stained Glass Pub (Elkridge, MD)
53038 K-zoo Krew, BWW-Kalamazoo, MI
52258 Big Guys (Winnipeg, MB)
52147 Time Out West (Hanover Park, IL)
52109 Buster's Bar (Ottawa, ON)
51749 The Ragged Rascals (BWW-Iliff, NM)
51410 Pineapple Hill Grill (Tustin, CA)
50605 Wallaby's (Lenexa, KS)
50345 BWW-Blacksburg, VA
49357 West Park Station (Cleveland, OH)
48700 Houlihan's-Westbury, NY
46973 Stadium Cafe (Addison, TX)
45710 Adam's Mill (Manchester, CT)
45288 BWW-Elmwood, LA
44279 K.C.'s Time Out (Evansville, IN)
35210 Cedar Cottage (Vancouver, BC)

Comparing the minimum and maximum columns reveals that The Fellowship's minimum possible score (57,995) is still higher than second-place BWW-Crystal City's maximum possible score. Thus, in an unprecedented feat, The Fellowship has clinched the trophy with a week to go (Given the competitive history of this tournament, I confess that this took me a bit by surprise when I crunched the numbers, and I went back and checked the math just to make sure). So I'd like to commend my teammates for pulling off this notable accomplishment, and hope that it assuages the sting of our McCarthy Cup whupping at least a little. Concurrently, I’d like to apologize to the rest of the field for making Tuesday's game a bit anti-climactic.

This is not to say, however, that there will be no drama at all on Tuesday. As MERKIN might say, “The battle for the steak knives is still on!” Yet even here, it looks like only two teams have a mathematical chance at silver. BWW-CC’s minimum possible score of 55,083 can only be surpassed by Danny K’s; and only then if it scores close to 14,700 and BWW-CC does not improve on its low score. Putting it another way, if BWW-CC scores 13,566 or above, they will clinch the steak knives no matter what Danny K’s does.

So it seems that the real battle this week will be for bronze. Only about 700 points separate the current teams ranked 3rd through 6th, and all the teams ranked 7th to 10th have a mathematical shot at third place, too. With almost half the teams still in contention for a medal, the DINGO Cup can still claim to be competitive going into its final week.

Good skill to all this week for the home stretch.

As promised, there was a bit of drama in the final week of the DINGO Tournament. Although 1st and 2nd pretty much went as expected, the battle for bronze turned out to be tight.

First, Tuesday's results. (N.B.: The Ragged Rascals played at BWW-Albuquerque instead of Iliff, the gang at K.C.'s Time Out played instead at BWW-Green River, and Adam's Mill closed down last week):

13979 Red Fox Grille (Cuyahoga Falls, OH)
13606 BWW-Crystal City, VA
12739 Teaser's (Chicago, IL)
11977 Pockets Pool and Pub (Tallahassee, FL)
11940 Danny K's (Orange, CA)
11821 Big Guys (Winnipeg, MB)
11692 Stained Glass Pub (Elkridge, MD)
11644 Mad River (New York, NY)
11606 The Ragged Rascals (BWW-Iliff, NM)
11568 Buster's Bar (Ottawa, ON)
11162 Tipsy Coyote (Scottsdale, AZ)
11077 K-zoo Krew, BWW-Kalamazoo, MI
10467 Time Out West (Hanover Park, IL)
10413 Pineapple Hill Grill (Tustin, CA)
10100 Houlihan's-Westbury, NY
9294 West Park Station (Cleveland, OH)
8892 K.C.'s Time Out (Evansville, IN)
8841 BWW-Elmwood, LA
8371 Wallaby's (Lenexa, KS)
8267 Stadium Cafe (Addison, TX)
6928 BWW-Oklahoma City (OK)
3752 BWW-Blacksburg, VA
399 Cedar Cottage (Vancouver, BC)
0 Adam's Mill (Manchester, CT)

In what can only be described as a flagrant display of showing off, The Fellowship of the Red Fox Grille won Brainbuster for the fourth week in a row, edging past BWW-Crystal City, which needed 13,566 to clinch; and it got 50 more points than that for insurance. Thus, BWW-Crystal City now has another silver medal to go with its bronze in 2013, its silver in 2014, and its championship in 2015.

Adding these to the previous scores, we get the following cumulative totals for the tournament:

71974 Red Fox Grille (Cuyahoga Falls, OH)
68689 BWW-Crystal City, VA
64557 Teaser's (Chicago, IL)
64249 Danny K's (Orange, CA)
63125 Tipsy Coyote (Scottsdale, AZ)
62571 Pockets Pool and Pub (Tallahassee, FL)
62494 Mad River (New York, NY)
60735 Big Guys (Winnipeg, MB)
60596 Buster's Bar (Ottawa, ON)
59908 Stained Glass Pub (Elkridge, MD)
59583 K-zoo Krew, BWW-Kalamazoo, MI
59181 The Ragged Rascals (BWW-Iliff, NM)
58653 BWW-Oklahoma City (OK)
57991 Time Out West (Hanover Park, IL)
55602 Wallaby's (Lenexa, KS)
54453 Pineapple Hill Grill (Tustin, CA)
51391 Houlihan's-Westbury, NY
51173 West Park Station (Cleveland, OH)
49547 Stadium Cafe (Addison, TX)
45700 K.C.'s Time Out (Evansville, IN)
40082 Adam's Mill (Manchester, CT)
39129 BWW-Elmwood, LA
39097 BWW-Blacksburg, VA
20609 Cedar Cottage (Vancouver, BC)

So Teaser's came from almost 400 points behind to move past Danny K's by 300 points in the cumulative standings. But would it be enough when low scores get dropped?

58042 Red Fox Grille (Cuyahoga Falls, OH)
55450 BWW-Crystal City, VA
52806 Teaser's (Chicago, IL)
52349 Danny K's (Orange, CA)
51963 Tipsy Coyote (Scottsdale, AZ)
51725 BWW-Oklahoma City (OK)
50850 Mad River (New York, NY)
50820 Pockets Pool and Pub (Tallahassee, FL)
49977 Stained Glass Pub (Elkridge, MD)
49115 K-zoo Krew, BWW-Kalamazoo, MI
49079 Big Guys (Winnipeg, MB)
49028 Buster's Bar (Ottawa, ON)
48355 The Ragged Rascals (BWW-Iliff, NM)
47614 Time Out West (Hanover Park, IL)
47231 Wallaby's (Lenexa, KS)
46823 Pineapple Hill Grill (Tustin, CA)
43800 Houlihan's-Westbury, NY
43651 West Park Station (Cleveland, OH)
41280 Stadium Cafe (Addison, TX)
40082 Adam's Mill (Manchester, CT)
39129 BWW-Elmwood, LA
39097 BWW-Blacksburg, VA
38171 K.C.'s Time Out (Evansville, IN)
20609 Cedar Cottage (Vancouver, BC)

Yes. In fact, the Chicagoland folks actually increased their 3rd-place lead to almost 450 in sniping the bronze medal away from Danny K's. In doing so, they continue to be the second-most decorated team in DINGO Tournament history, with another bronze at Teddy B's in 2015, and four silvers at Diamond Lil's and Teasers in 2013, 2016, 2017, and 2018. So it's not another set of steak knives, but at least they aren't fired. And Tipsy Coyote hung on to fifth after a late charge by BWW-Oklahoma City. Congrats to all the teams who scrapped through a grueling five weeks in one of Buzztime's most challenging games to finish in the top ranks.

So another tournament is in the books. Before closing it, though, I would like to leave you with a few thoughts while I am still wearing the Commissioner's hat:

First--and even though few if any of The Fellowship actually visit here regularly--I would be a poor Tournament Commissioner if I did not formally acknowledge and congratulate the The Fellowship not only for the win, but also for a level of play that was truly extraordinary. I consider myself fortunate to be able to play with them anyway, but these past few weeks they were awe-inspiring to watch. Not bad for a Benevolent Chaocracy. If by some strange set of circumstances you find yourself in NE Ohio on a Tuesday night, you should come play with them.

Second, I would like to thank sincerely ALL the teams who chose to participate in this year's tournament. It is great that so many people from across the continent can participate in contests like this, and that's what makes things like this so fun. Should Buzztime still exist next April, I encourage all of you to participate in the 8th edition of the tournament, for which The Fellowship will up the stakes a bit and award actual tangible medals for (at least) 2nd and 3rd place.

Last, I would be remiss if I did not finish with a special note of remembrance of the person who is the reason for the trophy: Tim (DINGO) Richardson. Were he still here, he no doubt would pipe in right about now with a perfectly pithy and perhaps slightly sardonic witticism. His presence in the trivia forums is still deeply missed, and I would like to think he would approve of all of us remembering him in this way every year.

That wraps it up, then. Once again, sincerest congrats to the top teams and thanks to all who participated. We hope to see you again for the 8th Annual Tim "DINGO" Richardson Memorial Brainbuster Cup.
