The late Ronald Reagan once advised Americans to "Vote with their feet," and migrate from the job-challenged Rust Belt to the then-booming Sun Belt in the recession of the 1980s.
As we approach the second anniversary of the Great Experiment that almost took NTN/Buzztime down, I have heeded the late president's advice and voted with my own feet, in a manner of speaking. There are at least twice as many opportunities for me or any other player to play the 15-minute Buzztime Trivia as to play the traditional 30-minute Countdown, but I have avoided the much-reviled "shorty" games as a matter of principle.
My play count for July? Countdown 36 games, Buzztime 3.
If the Powers That Be in Carlsbad see other veteran players eschewing the truncated Wipeout-style games, it may send a message to them to de-emphasize that base format. I would gladly play one of the original 30-minute Wipeout games, complete with the -250 points for an incorrect answer.
How about it, Carlsbad? Could you throw some of your longtime customers that bone once in a while? Like, perhaps, at 6 p.m. Easter Monday through Friday?
