Here are the Topix for the following month:

    May 5 - Gray Day
    May 6 - Hippie Dippie
    May 12 - Let's Go To Edmonton
May 13 - On The Road
    May 19 - Card Games
May 20 - Controversial Album Covers
    May 26 - Gross Anatomy
    May 27 - Gross-Out Comedy
The above is not a cut-and-paste, so there might be a typo. I still haven't mastered cut and paste from a tablet.

I'm frankly puzzled over 5/5. Likely about persons whose surname is Gray, although to me it could be about really cloudy places. The 5/6 Topix makes me think of George Carlin.

The one I look forward to is 5/12, although 5/19 also is interesting. Might even play the 5/20 game.

Edmonton?!? Buzztime's really scraping the bottom of the trivia barrel this month!

No, seriously, I'll be out playing that game, if for no other reason than to see if Rembrandts can beat the several Edmonton-area bars that might pop into the top 20

Card Games on the 19th also interests me. I would happily play the Album Covers game the next night, too, except I'll just be crossing into BC to go camping when the game comes on

No, they would have to have a Topix on Providence first. (Now I've done it!)

Well, I will also play the Edmonton game to try to prevent a Canada sweep of that top 20. We'll see. :)

Have a nice camping trip.

Another interesting one may be 5/27. I don't know much about movies, but what I have watched are comedies so that should be interesting.

Wondering if "On the Road" is going to be about travel or Jack's book.

I can definitely do the "the hippie" thing, even though I was only 8 during the Summer of Love.

If they stick to "ALBUM" covers, I'll be alright...CDs, not so much.

Edmonton is the only one that I'll try to miss.

Last place in the league, two years running! :D
That's something the Flames haven't ever done, even during the Atlanta years

Enjoyed the Gray Day game last night.

Wondering what Hippie Dippie will bring.

I was disappointed with Hippie Dippie Topix. I was hoping for George Carlin and all I got was one question. Just a bunch of dang hippie questions.

Guessed my way through Edmonton. I was waiting on a "Famous Five" question.

Interested in tonight's "On the Road" game.

Thanks. I've guessed well two Thurdays in a row...EGADS!!!

I would have liked to have played the Hippie game, but things didn't work out. Hopefully, the Road game tonight will continue my lucky streak. If not, there will still be beer!

We really enjoyed the On the Road game but a couple of obscure movies (at least to us) did us in...about a 12K average. Still a lot of fun. We also did great at Edmonton (thanks to Zog who did great) - ranking #4 beating out a lot of bars from Alberta. Probably wondering who the hell are these idiots in CT beating us!!!

Idiots?? Hardly! As I recall, fourth was good enough to beat any Edmonton bar. I was amazed that TWO Calgary bars beat Edmonton too, and ironically enough, I spent the last two days . . . in Edmonton

Well, had I not messed up the question on Edmonton's motto, the Mill would have had the highest bar score. Still, it was an excellent effort. Congratulations to Rembrandts of Calgary for the highest bar average, and also to Point and Feather Pub (also of Calgary) and Gridiron Wings and Bar (of Sugar Land, Texas) for their bar averages. Also to LGUAPO and RHINO for strong scores (in the top #20, individually) without the benefit of playing on a team.

I thought it was a great, and very challenging game, particularly after about the seventh question.

Well, apparently LGUAPO was on a short business trip to Oxnard that day. A couple of players that I've known for more than a lil while that regularly play at his NTN Buzztime home, Imperial Beach Forum (The Most Southwesterly NTN Buzztime Site In CONUS) have vouched for him as a strong individual player. Obviously, I wasn't there. But from the BT site, I can see that he was first of three at the site he was at, with the second-place score being barely 4,000. To me it looks like a strong individual effort for that one game, at least.

Very much enjoyed the Card Games game, although I had never heard of Razz. Also bled points on the Euchre question, because they asked how many cards were used in "Buck Euchre," a term I'd never encountered, so it took an embarrassing long moment to just go with the "24" that I knew from "Euchre."

I did not play Topix tonight; I had to leave after Nth degree. I'm curious what some of the questions were, although based on Akbar71's post, I might have nailed the Razz question (I've never played it, but I know it's a form of poker). The Euchre question might have sunk me; I thought that was played with 32 cards.

Here's a rough recap, as scribbled on a nearby napkin. Questions are a loose paraphrase, at best

Which of these card games is dealt from a shoe? [Baccarat]
What is the value of an ace in Rummy? [One]
"Shoot the Moon" is a term in which game? [Hearts]
In what game are some of the cards dealt face up? [Stud poker]
The card layout in this game is called a Tableau: [Solitaire]

Yarborough is a term used in this game: [Bridge]
What game is played with two decks and four jokers? [Canasta]
In Bridge, clubs and ______ are the minor suits [Diamonds]
This game is also known as Razz: [Seven card lowball]
In poker, which of the following hands beats a flush? [Full house]

Which of the following is a type of card game? [Fan-Tan]
Buck Euchre is played with a deck of how many cards? [24] *
Pontoon is the British name for this game: [Twenty-One]
How many cards are dealt to each player in Gin Rummy? [Ten]
This Renaissance game is considered the forerunner to Poker: [Primero]

(* This is the question that scuttled a perfect score for me. Never having heard of buck euchre, I stayed off of 24, thinking it would be different than "normal" euchre)

Questions by game:
5 Poker, 2 Bridge, 2 Rummy, 6 others
Nothing about Cribbage, Blackjack, Pinochle, Kids' Games, or CCGs
(I would've loved to see a good Magic: The Gathering question, but with my luck, any CCG question would've been about Pokémon or Dragonball Z)

I was hoping to see a Skat question, personally. A CCG question would have seen me throwing all four of my Playmakers clear across the bar and getting my co-bartender very angry with me.

Many thanks, pengwn for your reply. :) It looks that that would have been tough; maybe about 11K had I played it (solo.)

When I think of Rummy, I think of 500 Rummy, which I used to play all the time. In 500 Rummy, an Ace is 15 if one melds a set of Aces or it's the top end of a sequence, so BT might have partially botched this one. (In Gin Rummy, the Ace is worth one point.)

I thought they should have specified Gin, as well, but 15 wasn't a distractor. 13, 11, 10 and something else, if I recall.
