The Topix for next month are:

June 6 - Diets and Workouts
June 7 - Cable News Shows
June 13 - Coffee and Tea
    June 14 - Father/Son Actors
    June 20 - 40 Years Ago... 1973
June 21 - TV Season Finales
    June 27 - Video Games
    June 28 - Surfer Movies

I will definitely play 6/20, and am enough of an old arcade junkie that I will probably play 6/27 as well.

If I were sure the focus would be on arcade games rather than computer ones, I'd go out for it as well. This past weekend I was at Comicpalooza in Houston, and one vendor brought in a whole row of classic arcade games, and pinball machines that had sf connections such as Spiderman and Star Trek. The arcade games included Mario Brothers, Millipede (my favorite, as a former Centipede addict), Galaga, Ms. Pac-Man, Popeye, etc. One boy who was being introduced to the games by his father made a comment that Berzerker was "gross," and I thought: Really? As compared to today's offerings?
One of my favorite memories of this con will be the time I got to spend again with all these "old friends."

Sadly I'm sure Surfer Movies will be all the 1960's Hollywood stuff, would be cool if they actually had questions about the documentary type that show the real surf life.

Although there's a title called "The Ride" that was made in the last 10 years that I found awesome.

Like Brooke, if Video Games was all about the arcade variety I'd be there in a heartbeat. Although shouldn't it be a Friday game?

I would have to think that, given the title of the 6/27 game, that Video Games would be about any gaming platform, including coin-op. However, I am also hoping that the questions are about the coin-op variety, and I certainly am more than a little curious...

And, yes, this should be a Friday game, but I'm glad it won't be. :)

I'd like it better (and would be more inclined to play) if they labeled it Pre-2000s Video Games

If anybody likes the documentary style surf movies I would recommend "Step Into Liquid" (2003). Much more than just surfing it deals with greater social issues as well.

The last time Video Games was the topic was I believe in 2010, and had a decent mix of arcade, console, pc games and creators. The older the material the better for me as well, though give me some nice obscure 2600 programmer Qs ;) . Still can't believe i let spotes get the top score since question 1 was about Valkyria Chronicles (iirc?) that i just didn't know and he guessed quicker :).

The fact that I came in first in the country in that game was a farce.
I know two things about video games: jack and s#!t.
Ludicrous...

But I'll take it.

I have to give props to my son, AZJEFE (Jeff). He took me to school on the Topix game tonight with a score of 11920. He knew 80% of the questions tonight.

What was the topic of the "Topix" game...?

p.s. Isn't it great, when one of your kids beats you on a "Buzztime" trivia game. or anything. Your genes gave them their brains... :D

My math might be off, but if he knew 80% he would have scored more than 12k?

The topic was Video Games. And yes it is great to see my kids do well at trivia. My daughter is my team player for Playback, she knows the new music, I have the old covered.

Lewser, 80% is 12,000.

If they knew 80% they should have scored closer to 13, since you pointed out that 12000 is 80%. With a score of 11920, best case scenario is they knew 11 (not 80%) and averaged 230 on the other four. Unless of course they scored 11920 on 12 questions and completely flushed the other three. If the second scenario is true I stand corrected. :-)

With that being said, either way the did very well in that game.

I might play Surfer Movies tonight.

I saw Beach Blanket Bingo at the drive in, summer of '65.

Hope there is a question about Erich Von Zipper.

Wanted to give a shout out to my boy GAVV who five-boarded his way to a rock solid #2 bar score in the video game Topix last night.
Ahhh... the student has become the master...

He's only "my boy" in the buddy sense.
Clearly I need to improve my street cred with the lingo.
BTW, Playback seems destined to make everyone bring in their daughters to have much success.
Good luck.

Well my daughter couldn't make it last night, and the headliner was my worst nightmare. Playback sucked.

But there are a few Topix games coming up in July that look good.

I only wish the video games game was actually hard. only the switch-off delay switching off my default-3 guess on Rage , to Borderlands when i noticed the 'alien planet' part of the clue kept it from being a pretty easy perfecto. (remind me not to play at BW3s any more if at all possible :P )
