Oh goody, a mid-week half-length edition of FPULSE

At least you yanks are guaranteed to see zero Canadian content during these games. We're barely ahead of Equatorial Guinea in the rankings these days

For Canadian soccer, that is progress. You were just behind Vatican City. :P

Two World Cups ago, BT had an hour long game about it.

They put the HOUR long 30 question game high score on the Countdown 15 question board.

Thus, I was able to have great fun at the expense of MCGREW, who couldn't figure out how I had a 17K score on the board.

Came to say the same thing. This is the closest thing we will have had to a sports premium game in nearly two years.

Pretty slim pickings for Buzztime sports when I am looking forward to soccer trivia. This is what happens when all those dipshits constantly complained every week when 2 hours , then 1 hour per week was devoted to sports trivia. Fuck every one of those guys! That includes several on this site...

I'm sure that with the "several on this site" the feeling is mutual.

Also, I suspect that the 6/19 Topix (Brazil) will have very little to nothing about sports. I would not be surprised if the 6/26 game (World Cup Countries) has more to do with aspects of those countries than of "the beautiful game."

About one year ago there was a Topix on Baseball Pitchers, and last October there was one on the World Series. And there was the Opening Day Topix earlier this spring. About a year and a half ago there was one on hockey/the NHL.

I do agree that there should be a 60-minute sports trivia game, and The Pulse simply does not cut it.

You can count on BWW Gaithersburg MD being in the top 10 east for these games, soccer and passport themed games are right on goal for us.

How did you all like that passport repeat game from last Thur? Roadside attractions was pretty good, BT covered good stuff nothing too crazy. Some were repeat items from years ago, some were new.

Bring on the World Cup. Go USA (and Germany)

I definitely gave the Roadside Attractions topix a thumbs up. :) One question I had no clue on was the number of states viewable from the Georgia mountaintop (Lookout Mtn?). I guessed the lowest number (six) but the answer turned out to be seven.

I vaguely recalled hearing "seven" at some point, and punched it in. Coral Castle was our big tripwire. Of course, we were slightly embarrassed about how many of those places we'd actually been to/heard of.

Actually, maybe it's better they don't. During tonight's SIX Marathon round:

Which of these teams made it to the semifinal round of the 2014 Stanley Cup playoffs:

1) Pittsburgh Penguins
2) Anaheim Ducks
3) Boston Bruins

Of course, all three of those teams went down in the second (quarterfinal) round.

Not a good game for the Buzzies. They also replaced an I with a 1 in the matching round with comical results.

What the fuck is the semifinal round of the Stanley Cup playoffs? There's the conference semifinals where 8 teams are in action, then the conference finals, then the Stanley Cup finals. So BT is trying to call the conference championships the semifinal round?

It's almost like that question was written by someone who doesn't follow sports. I have no idea if TomD is still around but would be surprised if he authored that question.

I played that game as well, and I don't recall the Penguins as being one of the choices; I recall the Dallas Stars being listed with the Ducks and Bruins. Still a bad question though.

Post subject:  Re: SOCCER-THEMED TOPIX TRIVIA

From past snafus we know that if BT simply takes a CD question and imports it into Six (which has less than 5 choices in some rounds) that without double-checking the correct answer can in effect disappear leaving only incorrect answers. We also know that the local CPU can randomly remove the extra answers leaving different choices for players. So the only place this question could have been seen (since it's new) is The Pulse. And since almost none of us play that stupid game, I wonder if anybody here actually saw this question in the game or two.

You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still the semifinals, and that's what I call them. Nobody gives half a shit about the conference trophies. Repeat for the NFL and NBA. As for March Madness, what's this crap about "Regional Finals" or "Elite 8"? It's just the quarterfinal round. You get there and you're only halfway to your goal.

Then again, I come from a market whose WNBA team has hung numerous banners in the rafters of its arena for "Attendance Champions".

Oh sure... your post just HAD to be right here where I was taking a drink... "Tanks fer nuttin'"

Back on topic:

The only way I could see this soccer game being truly great is if everyone misses every question and it ends in a thousands-way (OK, OK, probably more like hundreds-way) scoreless draw.
"Just like the real big-leaguers, Jimmy."
