Not a great writing effort in this one, as only two of the questions required more knowledge than memorizing the list of Africa's capital cities. Of course, one of those ended up bronzing a Western gold for me. Oh well. At least I beat ROUGE

1. Which city serves as the capital of Rwanda?
2. The city of Porto-Novo serves as capital for this West African nation:
3. This is the capital city of Mali:
4. Yamoussoukro is the capital city of this African country:
5. What city serves as the capital of Madagascar?

6. Burundi's capital, Bujumbura, is one of the most important ports on:
7. Which of these cities is the capital of Sierra Leone?
8. This African country's capital is named after an American president:
9. South Africa's three capital cities are Pretoria, Bloemfontein, and:
10. Accra is the capital of which country?

11. What is the capital of Burkina Faso?
12. This West African country's capital is a city named Banjul:
13. Most east African safaris include a trip to this capital of Kenya:
14. Lusaka, capital of Zambia, is home to ______ International Airport:
15. Tintenpalast, now home to the national parliament, is a landmark in this capital city of Namibia:

Answers

1. Kigali
2. Benin
3. Bamako (isn't that also the name of Chef Emeril's holdings firm?)
4. Cote D'Ivoire
5. Antananarivo (rolls right off the tongue!)

6. Lake Tanganyika
7. Freetown
8. Liberia (I wish I had paid attention to whether this was the 5th answer choice)
9. Cape Town
10. Ghana

11. Ouagadougou (a more highly electrifying name than Antananarivo)
12. The Gambia (didn't they do some filming there for A River Runs Through It?)
13. Nairobi
14. Kenneth Kaunda (This non-scholar was suckered by Cecil Rhodes as a choice)
15. Windhoek

Wow thanks for this. I had thought to myself (as we left right before it was to come on) man this was something you could prep for easily if it's just capital/country questions... so they must only have a few of those and you need to know secondary things about any given city. Psyched myself out of doing this one.

Yup, a C- at best to Buzztime for an uninspiring set of questions. Whole lot of effort on their part. All they get credit for is avoiding the really simple ones. Couldn't they have talked about landmarks in the cities a bit more? Or brought up former capitals? Or asked which of these capitals is [not] on an island?

As it was, anyone could have gone to the wikipedia list, printed it out, and gotten close to a 15K (or better yet, copy said list into Excel and make two lists, one ordered by country and one by city). Or for the many among us who believe such behavior is not in the proper spirit of the game, at least do as I did, spend 5 minutes looking at the wiki list the day before the game, rely on short-term memory, and do almost as well.

I hope they do better with Baseball Stadiums next week, even though I almost certainly won't be able to play that one. Weather permitting, I will be researching the subject matter firsthand :D

See, here's part of your problem. Some of us don't have to prep for this as we learned them years ago. But you don't want to learn them unless there's some special game that requires the knowledge. But those of us who have actually learned African geography would have yawned through 14 of these 15 questions.

So for starters, how about you go learn all the national capitals. There's only about 200 some of which you should already know. Good luck!

Bo, quit busting my balls, man. I know I should be studying things in a general sense. My current situation prevents it. Right now short term prep is the most possible for me.
