Well, hell. Congratulations to BWW Gaithersburg *MARYLAND* for both the top site and top player.

OTOH, shame on the Massachusetts players for letting this happen. Image Something tells me this won't happen for Texas Topix.

Blame it, like all other things, on Wal-Mart.

You're right. Half of the Gaithersburgers who were playing last night will be in Chicago next Friday at a non-NTN location. But we'll be back for Michigan

Non-NTN, eh? Opens the door (hopefully) for us. We've had a decent rip the last few weeks. Games have been harder than we expected, which is nice to see.

Nonetheless, traveling Gaithersburgers are welcome to join our happy little abode if they have time. We're not that far from Chicago.

What were some of the questions?

A few I remember:

Which US president was born in Massachusetts? (To make it more challenging, no one named Kennedy or Adams was offered as an answer.)
What president is buried in Quincy Massachusetts? (This time the correct answer was an Adams, albeit the one without the giveaway middle name.)
What is the state's highest point?
Who was the first woman to receive an honorary degree from Harvard?
On what [holi]day is the Boston Marathon run?
What is the state's second largest city?
What sports hall of fame is in Springfield?

And the one that got us: What was the original color of the Green Monster before it became green?

Since it's a sports question written by BT, did they say it was "dark blue" or "navy" in color originally?

Well, hell. IIRC, "BLUE".

I wish I had remembered about it as I would have nailed all of those questions as I grew up in MA right near Mt Greylock.

I figured they'd take the easy, albeit maybe not most accurate, approach to that question.
That's a brutal question, especially as worded.
There were so many ginormous ads on that thing back in the day, I'd be surprised if people that were at those games could actually tell you what color it was at the time.
Brutal.
And with the inclusion of the word "original", that brings other colors into play.
When they rebuilt that wall in the 30's it was originally concrete covered with tin in various spots. So, grey or silver maybe?
Yep. Brutal.
But I probably don't need to tell a huge Sox fan such as yourself about these little peccadillos, do I?

For our Texas friends... are these really true (still true?) or just urban myths?

In Texas, it is illegal to curse in front of or indecently expose a corpse.

It is illegal to spit on the sidewalk.

To be elected in the state of Texas, one must believe in a supreme being.

In Lefors, it is illegal to take more than three swallows of beer at any time while standing.

The entire Encyclopedia Britannica is banned in Texas because it contains a recipe for making beer that can be used at home.

You can be legally married by publicly introducing a person as your husband or wife three times.
