Just got these off of the Buzztime site:

August 5 - The Lone Star State
August 6 - Summer Blockbusters
August 12 - Musical Instruments
August 13 - Summer Activities
August 19 - Rivers
August 20 - Summer Music
August 26 - World Currency
August 27 - Summer Vacation Spots

Some of these look quite promising. :)

Hmm the Thursday crop all have some interest for me for once. Fridays no but as expected. A bit of a geographical bent I see. 8/12 could either be really interesting or a dud. I should be able to be at the Trivi-Ale mini-bash by World currencies and maybe team up for once if others have slunk in by then. Of course that means I'll have to play the damn Friday one after it, but hey.

As far as Friday Topix go, "Summer Vacation Spots" isn't a bad one to 'have' to play. I was actually happy to see it.

I congratulate the best lil trivia bar in all of greater Texas, Diamond Lils, for being numero uno in the "Lone Star State" Topix tonight.

That's weird...I saw an Illinois bar in the number one spot last night when the rankings were showed. Congrats to Diamond Lils.

Everything's bigger in Texas. Except for the score in the Lone Star State Topix game. That's biggest in Illinois.

Tonights game should have been called 2010 Summer Movies, not sure many of them even qualified as Blockbusters. Was expecting older movies mixed in. Did ok but nothing great

We didn't have a problem with it in the first place, but seriously "Jonah Hex?" This was a shit game. Just like extreme sports, we were expecting x games questions and we get Olympics questions, the sponsors should ask for their money back. Before the game I came up with 5 questions, those were the 1st 5 questions nearly identical to what was said. Pre-called Scotty Lago was asking the wife for a copy of the photo (she refused to do it in the bar).

I suppose we are in the easy stretch of Spotlight just like SIX, Showdown, and Sports Trivia Challenge went through. This shit gets boring if it isn't a challenge. We missed 3 questions in SPotlight and finished 6th, fucking boring.

P.S. I am glad Aces & Eights is closing and moving I need a break from the crap that BT has been subjecting us to.

p.s.s. Lindsey Jacobelis is not an extreme sportix.

I agree when they were asking about "Cool Runnings". When since Bobsleding became an EXTREME SPORT?

I think the Cool Runnings question was about the only one we got right...

In the Topix game last night, there was a question that said somethng like... All of these things are mentioned in Brad Paisley's song "Water" except:

Choice #2 was something about jumping rope so I picked that one. I think buzztime took creative liberties with that answer. In one line of the song Brad says something about "a big old rope tied to a limb" and the next line says "jump in the water." But those two things aren't exactly the same thing as jumping rope.

Choice #5 was White-Water Rafting, which clearly isn't in the song at all so I guess that was a better choice of the two. But when you're reading top to bottom during an except question, you usually bite on the first one that you think isn't true (at least that's what I do).

Nuts. IIRC, a long established "rule" for "except" questions is to start at the bottom.

I never heard that song (thank goodness ), but as I saw those choices, white water rafting seemed way out of place.

It's not one of his better songs, IMO (even though it hit #1  ). It received mixed reviews from country critics. Anyway, IIRC in the video, there is a clip of someone rafting. Not white-water rafting, mind you, but if buzztime is going to take creative liberties on Choice #2 then who's to say they can't do that for Choice #5 too

But seriously, when you see answer choices written like this, it almost makes you think the writer had never even heard the song before. And that's okay...but one would think it would be easy for someone just to pull up the lyrics to a song and then copy parts of them verbatim into the answer choices. It doesn't seem like it would be a difficult task, but that's just my opinion.
