I always thought Blur had potential if it had been soft core porn.

Here's an other vote for Abused News in its original 5-day evening format.

For those of you who would like to reminisce about the old games and prior schedule, I set up this game calendar on my listserv about 3 to 4 years ago - http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/Cha ... Trivia/cal . I haven't modified it since and it repeats on a daily basis.

Those were the days I was going out at least 4 times a week ... sometimes 6 times a week, forsaking Monday nights mostly. sheesh!

Everyone always knocks BLUR, but at my site it brought a small group of mid 20's girls in to play. I hated the content, but love to see them win. (cue the spotlight and Gary Wright's "Dream Weaver")

Tis true :) Just got this email internally:

Beginning February 14th, SIQ will be moving from Buzztime Sports to Buzztime Trivia. The game will also move to Sunday evenings at 4:30pmPT/7:30pmET.

Put Raceday back on regular trivia whle you're at it.
Hour-long GloryDaze, Mini-Six, Restore Order, Abused News, RetroactiveTV. All favorites and fun IMO.

Passport or some version of a geography game. format doesn't need to be the same.

I'd vote for Abused News as well but I'm afraid that a current version of this game would turn out to be too much like Blur.

Two games that were Canada only should be brought back but extended to include the whole network: Extreme Countdown and Final Answer

Extreme CD was same format as regular CD but was 1 hour, 30 questions long. It used to run Monday-Friday at 5:30 pm ET. it would be good to bring back 2 or 3 times per week to break up the prime time BTT marathons on saturdays, sundays and mondays

Final Answer was basically a series of Showdown Lightning rounds. It used to run for an hour but a modified version could easily fit a half hour format.

Now combined into one game collectively known as "Buzztime Trivia" and offered several times a day.

RetroacTiVe

I'm not trying to pick on anyone here, but am I the only one who remembers RetroacTiVe (and for that matter, Jukebox and the standalone Triviaoke) as generally pulling from a rather limited database, and thus polluted with a higher-than-normal rate of repeat questions? It wasn't called RepeatroacTiVe for nothing.

Yes, but neither had nearly the limited database of NTN's previous sci fi game Zealot Trivia. That game had no more than 500 total questions, guaranteed, and appeared once a week for almost two years. If I had to see Captain Picard's serial number one more time... :x
It's SP 937-215, BTW.
See? Do you see what that game has done to me?

Ugh. Thanks for reminding me about that abomination. Remember Antagonist? I only have one memory of that horrible game. The question was something like "How do you spell [some long word]?" and the five choices were, as far as I can remember, all identical.

I agree about disliking Antagonist and the Zealot science fiction game.

But were they worse than "Know your Server"? Or "Blur"? Both of which games give me a feeling like there is something stuck to the bottom of my shoe. "What is this, dammit!"

Post subject:  Re: Games I'd like to see come back

If I could only get one game back I would ask for Passport, or a similar geography game.

Every Wednesday a player named DUFFER and I would show up to play. He would bring a map that he printed off the internet based on the clues from the week before, which may or may not have been the actual place that the topic of the game was at. :D I had a mini atlas and fact book, which was pretty useless since it took longer than the time to answer to look anything up and read it in the dim light. Sometimes it helped, but we always guessed first.

One Wednesday DUFFER didn't show up. I wrote a note on the back of a coaster and left it with the game boards: "DUFFER - since you didn't show up I assume you must be dead. If you aren't or you're gonna play as a ghost, here the clues for next week..." He was alive (still is for all I know) and he got a kick out of it.

Consider this -- if the purpose of the game is to get people to come and stay longer, after looking stuff up and printing stuff out you're probably not going to say, "Aw, I'm just gonna blow it off for tonight."

No, they were different. The word was 'effervescent.' (or effervescence) And that's actually a fond memory for me. I mean, c'mon! They put the word up there, then took it away and challenged us to remember it. It's one of two reasons* that, while I'm not sure I care if I ever see that game again, I'll always have a soft spot for it, and for whomever the question writer was. A little bit of fun injected into our serious game.

*The other was when they got me with, 'how many of each animal did Moses take onto the Ark?'

Ha! Who knew that someone else would remember that exact same question? Admittedly, it's been a number of years so if you say they were all different, I'll certainly believe you and cede the point.

I will admit--I'd like a second chance at that question.
