After being much more differentiating for quite some time it seems Lexitopia the last three weeks has gone back to the "graduates get 9 gimmes and 1 guess" format whereby even the only vaguely well read are going to get 9 or at worst 8 immediately (where it's 8, the 9th will be a slightly unfamiliar either/or where an ability to recognize or work out word-stem roots is all that is needed), then face one specialty term that they either have to get by elimination, guess, or if lucky, specific interest. I suppose we should be thankful for small mercies that they went to medicine this time rather than just reaching for the nearest list of unusual piscine or avian names. Wonder if there has been a reversion to a previous writer/editor recently?

No, it's the same poor soul (me) who has been doing the game for the past two years or so. :(

At Hardtimes we liked the game last night....hey we won so we had better like it...Thanks for the free shooters Tom.

A differing scale of game difficulty is just fine as long as the easy ones don't go on for too long...and they haven't yet.

Your doing a good job Tom...now about the Playback writer? and the lack of rankings for the last 5 - 6 weeks?

Good to know that TomD - at least we know you keep an eye out on the forums. I should be consistent and commend you more for the six months or so of excellent Lex's rather than just condemn for last three that softened up a bit. Bud's point is an excellent one - as long as the difficulty level does not drag on variation is fine. The only problem with Lexditopia is that unless you make it truly esoteric like the very first one, too many people get 9 right, and roughly 25% will guess the tenth, natch. OTOH, if you make it hard enough to please those of us in the purple prose posse, you turn off the less well-read (although turning off the layman seems to not concern too many fans or writers of the sports games, which delve far deeper into the depths than "trocar"). Differentiation between the lucky and the knowledgeable will always be a problem for Lexitopia, requiring longer time frames than one or even a few games for valid comparison. FWIW from say Sept-Mar I think Lex difficulty was near ideal.
