Blew a perfecto on q14 having never read the Lensmen series. One odd thing from last night's game: the question about The Rifleman. I can almost, kinda, sorta, just about maybe let the American Gladiators question slide because it is a quasi-futuristic combat game show. But The Rifleman? Huh!?! The first person to describe the reasoning for its inclusion in last night's game to my satisfaction wins a prize because I don't get it. And, I'm sorry, the quizmaster being a lazy idiot working for a company full of dumbasses does not count as a valid answer. So, you're ineligible Lewser. |

Shoot, I actually miss a game and they have an E.E. "Doc" Smith question ? I recently reread the first 3 books in the Lensmen series, Triplanetary, First Lensman and Galactic Patrol. What was the question ? |

Well, hell, you made me try to look it up. Maybe, given that the gun used didn't exist until later, therefore (in the mind of the game writer) qualifying as science fiction? |

What was the question ? Don't remember the exact question but it was like Which book series featured the alien races of X & Y?. With my only experience with Lensmen being the not-really-lensman anime movie from 1984, I didn't recognize the race names (neither were Boscone which i would have recognized). at least two answers were right out with Foundation and Known Space. Can't remember the one we went with. gavv |

The Lensmen was runnerup to Asimov's Foundation for the Hugo award for best All Time Series. |

I applaud your effort, but my initial assumption is that the question is mistakenly flagged as an sf question and it was pulled from a database without a single human being checking it for content. Your faith in the writer's extensive knowledge of both the history of firearms and TV shows that went off the air 30 years before they were born is duly recognized, though. |

After further review, the latter sounds way more than a lil better. |
