Well, hell. More than a few of us have noticed the sudden (and, IMO, most welcome) addition of sports questions in the general content mix of Lunchtime, Countdown, and Late Shift.

IIRC, this past Saturday also saw more than a few questions from the Religion category, also more than a lil welcome. Some of the sports questions in Lunchtime on either Tuesday and/or Wednesday seemed to have been taken from the Saturdays In The South game  (mascots of SEC teams, though there was also a most welcome one on that infernal mascot of that eternally damnable junior university ).

I am not much of a sports person, but the variety is welcome. It would be nice to see more motor sports questions from time to time though. That being said, there was a Drag Racing question, although a fairly easy one, in a countdown game last night.

And also on the bad side, content continues to be a problem in the premium / speciality games.

The Encore question in Playback last night was a verbatim repeat of the Encore question from the previous Bob Dylan game.

The Trendalicious games next month (Lollapalooza & Amusement Parks) were previously used categories in recent premium / specialty games. They'll probably just ask mostly repeat questions in those games :(

This is really the end of buzztime for all intensive purposes if they continue to refuse to write new content for the premium / specialty games :(

Back in the last century I remember a period where Countdown always had a Bible question (In which book is this verse or who's related) and a Shakespeare question usually on a minor play, and I lived through it even though it was torture at the time. I'm not keen on sports questions so it may cut down more on my play. And, what about QB1 this season?

I noticed as well.

SCORE is the only badge that apparently I can get. I've got plenty of 950s or even 150s in that genre

Yes, there have been more sports questions. Many I recognize from playing the sports trivis after cancelling THe.

Well, hell. This Taco Tuesday, there were more than a few Dunkadelic questions (college basketball). :o

Texas Hold Em. Never understood why tons of people love playing some strange card game (it's not poker) with nothing on the line, but they do. Helps BT sustain a lot of sites for sure.

I'll see your THe bafflement and raise you an utter confusion as to why anyone is attracted to QB1, regardless of what they think about the football game going on..

QB1 is a skill based game, realizing what different teams do in various tendencies. More importantly, recognizing various formations and knowing instantly exactly what play will be run. Differences of 1/2 yard can change a play completely.

All of which can be said about Texas Hold'em

There's probably a few folks who play the Buzztime game as practice for when they play for keeps against their buddies or at the local casino. At the very least, they believe it helps their game, anyway

I've never really understood Pinochle, myself, but there's tons of people who still play that, right? Or are they all dead now?

Ah yes silly me. Of course that's it. Been a long time since I saw a screen with it on.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!! Oh my. REALLY?

What is played on BT IS NOT POKER. Let me say that again, IS NOT POKER. One cannot play poker when nothing is at stake. People make silly decisions and do all sorts of things because there is nothing to fear if you lose all your play chips. You simply get restocked and it costs you nothing. It is in no way a good training ground for poker.

But I really don't expect tons of people to understand both high level QB1 and high level poker. There are some here though.

Ah, you were talking exclusively about the Buzztime game. Thought you were referring to Texas Hold'em compared to Draw and Stud poker

No doubt I'm late to the party, and maybe it's a function of that I play only on Monday and Tuesday afternoons, but since the beginning of September I've noticed more sports questions. More importantly, there seems to be fewer pop culture questions, especially on recent music, which is beyond believable and most welcome. I used to call Mondays for Lunchtime and Countdown "pop culture Monday" because so many seem to come on those days. Again, maybe because I only play those games and only on those two days, but that's the trend I've noticed.

This week, I played on a Monday for the first time since . . . oh, probably the closing game of the last Smartest Bar competition, a year ago. The recent pop culture and music questions of which you speak, jeff, seem to have been shoveled into The Late Shift. Couldn't even muster 5000 points in the most forgettable of that night's games :(
