Well, hell. Has anyone seen the ads for this upcoming game at other than a BWW?? :!:

This weekend at two of the BWWs in NTN Buzztime's Site-Poor Backyard, ads were showing promoting what looks like a game on college football, to run on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Judging from the colors used, this could be a game only for BWWs (imagine that ).

No such ads were shown at the Gaithersburg MD BWW.
Southern CA only, for now?

Played at Tanner's for a few hours on Saturday and didn't see an ad for it then, but did see one at BWW yesterday. Wondering if it going to be like the Newcastle game last year. I won a gift card from that game on day that I forgot to program it out...which may be a problem once we get the dreaded tablets at my site.

This 30 Q hour long game came on at 730 here in Gburg. So we'll see what happens to TI and IW. Maybe after topix? No warning of this. Same will happen on Fri and Sat the ads say.

The game was ok, a mix of school mascots, school colors, leagues and some schedule Qs.

Well, hell. Am more than a lil surprised that it was 30 Qs and one hour.

Also way more than a lil disappointed that there weren't more college football history Qs (Heisman & other awards, bowls, etc.) :( Maybe future games will include those in the mix. Image

Not surprised that it was an hour long. The Newcastle game was also sports related (except for the Newcastle beer specific questions) and an hour long. It aired twice a week (maybe 3 times...a tad forgetful), so I figured the new game would be similar.

I was overall a bit disappointed. Majority of questions were about relatively small, more obscure football schools. Mainly questions about team colors, team nicknames, what conference are they in and who are they playing this week. No questions about college football history and such. Kind of like The Pulse with a theme.

I found it more like The Season than The Pulse, although it didn't have a week to draw on. We'll see if we subsequently get "Who was the leading rusher in
Michigan-Utah" or "Which of these players was not accused of sexual assault last week?"

I forgot to mention no rankings after the game. Did anyone see rankings, if so who were the top few bars? We had rankings for Six and Glory Daze but none for the 2 CDs before Academy.

If it airs at 730 again tonight what happens to topix?
How can BT do this with no schedule update online? Quite a poor job by the website team.

Has anyone played the new Academy of Football? If you know about college football, this is the perfect game for you!
Find out more about the game and where you can play:
http://www.buzztime.com/academy-of-football
Starting next week you will see some current questions which are reflective of the previous week's football games.

Well, hell. IIRC BWW G-burg was the #1 site.

Apparently the addition of Academy of Football has hosed the updating of premium and specialty games for Thursday. :( As of the time of this posting on *Friday* evening, there were *still* no rankings for the Thursday games.

Right idea, but wrong execution. On Saturdays, this game is going to alternate with Countdown for eight straight hours. The fan at BWW watching the games might be intrigued enough to pick up a board & start playing...but will get frustrated when the game flips over to Countdown. Likewise, the player there to play Countdown is going to get frustrated when the game flips over to Academy Of Football.

Well, hell. This Saturday morning, the listing for the *Thursday* Academy of Football game showed in my game records. Image

It may be more than a lil interesting to see what games show in the second half hour from noon-8 Eastern. Given that Lunchtime Trivia is supposed to be the default game in all time zones from 11-2, those could show instead of Countdown. Also, it will be way more than a lil interesting to see if the early games in the Pacific time zone will be in their own listing or included with others.

UPDATE - The 9:30 & 10:30 AM games in the Pacific zone were Countdown, but only for the Pacific zone. :( At 11:30, 12:30 & 1:30, Lunchtime Trivia games showed. :|

Was not a fan of alternating with Countdown on Saturday nor were some of the other regulars that I've talked to at my BWW. Also, it seems that you can't log-in mid-game for Academy of Football. When I arrived, the game had ended but the box would not let me log-in until Countdown started for the next rotation. It just gave me a notification something like...game in progress, try again later. If a non-regular came in, saw the game on and wanted to play, sounds like they would not be able to thus losing out on a potential player.

The cancelation of Friday topix through December is what will cause the most people to be upset. Can't topix be temporarily scheduled in after Trendalicious?

Why does Buzztime think taking two steps backwards is the equivalent of one step forward? The aggressive scheduling of Academy of Football is going to cause people to find other things to do. A few years ago when they had that obnoxious sports game on Friday nights my crew put down the playmakers and played video mini-golf and bowling. I'll just show up Fridays as Academy of Football is ending as many others will do and avoid Saturday afternoons changing a long time habit.

Well that was an easy win last night, 2 wins out of 2 on Thurs.
There was way too much on the games from last week. There was mascots and school locations and that sort of fluff. We were hoping for more historical Qs.

3 of us had fun but the other 2 couldn't wait for it to be over. The situation on Friday will be even worse with the canceling of topix. We have no choice other than 3 BWWs in this part of MD. The only other possibility, Stained Glass pub, has very limited parking and seating and generally is not worth going that distance so we are stuck with Academy. That's fine on Thur not as much on Fri or Sat.

At least we won't have to play Rappers topix. :o

What time does this game actually air on Fridays? According to Buzztime it would air in place of Spotlight..

Is it possible to reschedule Topix at BWW to after Spotlight? Or move Academy a 1/2 hour earlier? I know Bobby would love to play this at 4 on Friday.
