This isn't defensive... it's honest. It's usually me or Matt writing on Facebook and we are serious when we say thank you and that we'll pass it along. We pass it along every single time, and we appreciate it! We are only trying to be friendly in the responses we give.

Being naturally skeptical I take everything as sarcasm.

I didn't get a survey and I subscribe to your emails.
Could you please send me the special survey where
you guys follow all of my suggestions to the letter
thereby making your lives much easier?
I promise... :D

We do care, that's the point. The changes were based on feedback from our paying customers and we have gotten a lot of positive feedback from them since the change. We do listen, and we do make changes based on feedback from our locations and players. But changes here take time and development so we put a lot of thought and data behind changes that are made. I know it doesn't seem like it to you, but it is true. We know that not everyone is happy with our changes, and we have to weigh that when making decisions that will help the company in the future.

KK, could you please explain how eliminating guest handles in the rankings and screwing up the bar rankings is based on customer feedback. Unlike splitting the network (which I don't like but can at least see the rationale), I cannot fathom how any customer would consider this a positive action.

It's also a big hindrance to players who want to visit an active buzztime location. On the website, they've taken away the locations' last report date. Now they only post data for that location's P+ players.

Knowing if a buzztime location is up & running properly is vital information for a visiting player.

At the bar I played at this past weekend, no P+ players had played the premium games the past three weeks...so I had no indication of what this bar does for premium games. I took a chance it was okay to play there, and it ended up being okay, but it shouldn't be left to guesswork.

Since the recent high scoreboards have been reset for premium games, at the end of the game, I was able to see that this location has had players playing the premium games for each of the last three weeks - they were just all non P+ players.

If buzztime is going to insist on wiping out the non P+ data, the very least they should do is put the locations' Last Report Date back on their homepage.

KK- I noticed the following on the Facebooks:
Quote:
Thanks for the feedback Adam. We have also gotten a lot of positive feedback from players
I think it's important to note that the following are NOT positive feedback:

1) Asking about badges that haven't shown up on one's player profile
2) Other general inquiries about how badges work
3) "Sharing" badges on the MyFaceyTweets when you reward doing so with P+Points

I only bring this up because having read the comments here, on the Facebooks and your blog, I'm just not seeing an outpouring of positive sentiment about the badges. Perhaps there are hordes of players calling you, E-mailing you or otherwise commenting through non-public media while eschewing public fora, but if what we can see is what you've seen, it's simply not "positive."

Well, maybe we should consider that whatever Krazikatt and whomever else is posting as "NTN Buzztime, Inc." on their FB page is likely not coming from themselves, but rather from their misguided and disingenuous manglement.

Understood, Joel. I've long assumed that the ones we know and like don't generally share the views of the overlords. I still think it's important to point out that non-negative comments are not necessarily positive and that succoming to P+Points bribery does not constitute support.

All they did is announced winners of prizes just for answering em. But Just saw their reply on it on Facebook.

NTN Buzztime, Inc. We are still going through them and compiling results and reports. I am not sure if we will be able to post the results, but I will definitly find out and keep you posted!

Actually, they were very interesting! But I'm just not sure if we're allowed to make this stuff public. I'll let you know when I find out!

In other words, "it's going to take us some time to doctor these survey results so they reflect what we want them to."

BT said almost the identical thing on the website blog in response to a question I raised. Just to be clear, there is absolutely no legal impediment to releasing the results of a survey BT as a company took as long as it's just presenting data in the aggregate. BT is also perfectly free to tell us the gist of the comments as long as they're not attributed to or easily identified with a particular respondent.

So, as usual, although certainly BT can constrain the ability of KK or whoever is doing the FB/blog pages to reveal the results, at the company level it's not a question of being able--it's one of transparency, and respecting the people who gave their time to respond to the survey enough to give us what we value more than words of appreciation/chances of winning prize packages: what people are saying about the changes.

Just read the BT site blog regarding the poll for the first time (actually, just noticed the link for the first time, since I'm not a blog person).

Not much feedback; not that I was execting much.

What I have noticed when playing recently--people joining BT via the Playmaker, having generic avatars (The blue non-gendered head/shoulder pic), and not getting badges.

I'm guessing that these folks need to go to the BT webpage and activate their accounts to earn the badges. Is that correct?

In fairness to Buzztime (can't believe I'm doing this), there is also no reason they can't consider the results of their survey propietary.

Of course legally BT can--but then we'll just know that they didn't get the results they wanted, because otherwise: why wouldn't they? And that unlike many organizations that value transparency, and really want to reward the people who take the time to answer their surveys (witness the many when as soon as you complete the survey, you can see the current result), BT doesn't think its respondents are due that respect.

But they do care!

They gave out random prizes to folks who took the survey, didn't they?

But that's what BT wants...more 'random winners', preferably from their target demographic.

I wonder if any of the winners have "medaled' or even have Top 100 scores.

I don't have a problem with prizes being given out to random winners as I believe if a casual player received such a prize, he/she would be more likely to play again. And I don't think everyone filling out the survey needed a tangible prize. But it would be easy to make available to everyone who wanted it the results of the survey, and that would certainly be a great incentive to respond the next time BT does a survey.

BTW, today in a FB discussion BT justified its changes, including the split, by saying it has to make decisions to "help its paying customers," and they have to "do what is right for the majority." So a majority of locations said they wanted the split? And that they'd be really, really happy if all their non-PP players suddenly didn't count for anything? And that Smartest Bar would be much better for them on Monday night, when they already have NFL-watching customers coming in with whom the trivia players can now fight for screens, than remaining on Wednesday? Of course I don't think anything like a majority of locations expressed any of those ideas, or were even consulted on the changes--this is just BT deciding it knows better than its customers what is "right" for the customers, even as said customers are losing business its established players are going away.

Well, it sure seems like NTN Buzztime is validating the phrase (regardless to whom it's properly attributed) "...lies, damnable lies, and statistics (based on our polls)..."

Yes, BT's responses are reminiscent of the report we were hearing today re: the Romney campaign's response when someone challenged Romney's assertion that Obama has made the economy worse. After the challenger walked through all the indicators that show the economy has improved since January 2009, and asked what numbers the campaign was looking at, the only response was a sort of muddled "well, he might have made it worse before it became better," and "if he'd done different things, it would have improved even more." Neither of which supports the original allegation that the economy is worse now than it was when Obama took office.

BT has no data to show that the split/the disenfranchisement of the non-PP players/the substitution of badges for the cards has been better for the majority of the locations. Now because the non-PP players aren't included (as they were pre-split), we can't even compare apples to apples. At best the last post-split data we saw that involved the same player population indicated that East zone locations were seeing an upsurge in business on pre-premium and premium games, but a drop after the premium (which may have led to shortened times people were actually at the location consuming and spending)--and of course the West zone is a total disaster.

But why deal with real numbers when it's SO much easier to hide behind platitudes that "BT knows best," refuse to address the tough questions re: right of the location to choose its feed, and just forget the company doesn't know how to make a profit on a product it's had for years?
