I would have thought they would have learned that lesson years ago. you do not ever put up a premium game for votes.

I saw that voting screen, just as I was leaving. Everyone was pretty surprised... As they were all voting "Showdown", I was voting "Log Off".

Wonder what BT is up to? Probably not anything intelligent...

If they want to boost playership for their premium games--which was the main reason they gave for putting in the split--why on earth would they give people the option to NOT run the game? I would not be surprised if playership on the premium games drops on the strength of this bright idea alone.

I have a feeling I will have to eject a lot of little kids from the restaurant next time I want to play Six.

clarify for us blinded westerners who are finding other things to do anyway

one could venture out solo to play a destination premium game and get outvoted by a couple who only want to play a shorter game and then leave?

I think voting on the next game could work but there should be restrictions on its use. A management option for a bar may be set to determine whether there even is a vote for a certain game or a certain time slot. Therefore, with that option set, one can ensure that Showdown would be played at it's proper time.

However, I can think of some situations where I'd like to vote on a game. One flaw in BT's current schedule is that if we wanted to play something other than Countdown in the afternoons or early evenings, we wouldn't be able to. But if, say, Wipeout were restored as an NTN game, I might occasionally vote to play it rather than Countdown, just for a change of pace.

Just a thought.

Yes, that's true. One would hope BT would make the premium game the default, but we definitely were annoyed when we had to select Showdown (and why only the premiums?--GD and BB came without a selection option).

Interestingly, we saw two California locations making the CD rankings at a time when California should still have been playing Showdown. So the option is then to play CD against the full network, or Showdown against only the designated zone?

I saw that too. Talk about adding insult to injury! There should never be an option to vote against a premium game. I can only imagine showing up for a game just to find out Countdown got selected instead. But then again I will not be playing premium games for awhile so I guess it doesn't matter (except on principle)....

I already expounded on this in xtrain's 2/28 Showdown thread

Suffice it to say, if BT's decision makers had any clues, they'd be sitting on the floor (or at the beach) playing with them

I should do up a business card, promoting myself as a consultant specializing in teaching young people to play with old toys. I'm sure I can find somebody in the oilpatch here who can get that objective written in businesspeak. Hell, if the company's hemorrhaging cash like a sugar maple in spring anyway, why not try to score some syrup for myself, right? ;)

EGADS!!!

Won't even have to boycott games when the kiddies outvote me at my site.

BT may have a new logo, but the same old cluelessness is still behind it.

If the manager gave you the code are you able to pre-program and eliminate the vote or over-rule the vote? Multi-boxing to get the majority vote may become a new thing.

That is probably buzztime's master plan to increase players  You have to multi-box to ensure that you win the vote :o

BT's master plan is working; they put two stupid things out there and everybody concentrates on one and not the other.

What is the default, anyone know? In other games if no one votes it goes to the bottom, CD was on the bottom, would it really go to that?

It went to Showdown at my site, because no one voted.

According to their facebook page, voting on premium games was a "bug" that has been fixed.

This may be the dumbest thing Buzztime has ever come up with. I wouldn't mind it if it was done during the 'non-premium' games, but during a premium game?

I tell you what. If I was at a place like BWW to play Playback, and the kiddies who just get a board so their parents can eat in peace vote to play Countdown or Buzztime trivia, I'm asking for my check and walking.
